so i can confirm this, if i call my home number and pick it up on line two and use another phone to call my home number, while line 2 is in use from an inbound call, all it does is you hear call waiting tone on line 2 and line 1 rings and i picked it up and it worked. as well as if line 1 is on call and someone else calls inbound, i get call waiting tone on line 1 and ring on line 2.

It sounds like the calls are coming in. Maybe your phone isn't ringing because the ring voltage is too low and you are using one of those old phones with a real bell.
The other thing to keep in mind is you cannot register 2 or more devices to the same voip line. The last one that registered will be the one that rings. Every so often the lines re-register. This could flop the ringing phones back and forth from one line to the other. Check your line 1 and 2 to make sure your user ids are different on both lines. They cannot be the same. |

No, the no ring issue would happen prior to adding line 2, i would call home, it would ring ring ring ring but then just go to voicemail, although i knew the wife was at home, so i called her cell and it picks up, and i verified are you home, yes, did the home phone ring now.. i've even tried it myself, ill have my cell, call home, no ring, but i pick up the phone hit talk, got dial tone, make calls and w\e,,, so its weird why it does that..

It could be a faulty voip box that you've got. I have the following:
SPA942 x 4 SPA9000 SPA2102 PAP2T I've never had this problem with any of these Linksys devices. Under Regional Settings, I have: RING WAVEFORM: Sinusoid RING VOLTAGE: 85 RING FREQUENCY: 25 On my one FXS line I've got a cordless phone, and an extension phone from 1975 that has an actual bell in it and requires more volts to ring. I've never had this issue. Please check your settings as illustrated above. |

I have pretty much same settings, its on Sinusoid, used to be on Trapezoid or w\e it is,, but it rang stupid, Sinusoid fixed that, my ring voltage is 85, the frequency one, i played with it the other day as I do have 1 old corded phone which has a bell in it, was fun cranking it to 100 and the thing would just scream,, but my other phones since they all use digital ring, it would affect it, unless i was really high or really low on the frequency, so i set it to 10. The thing is i just tried it now, used my cell dialed home, ring ring ring then i hit voicemail, if i take the home phone, dial out, hang up, then use my cell again, the home phone will ring like normal.. is it the box?? I have the SP2102

I followed mango's guide on how to properly setup the ata, and input my voip.ms settings. will see how she works.

It almost sounds as though under manage your DIDs you have it set to the Toronto server, but your Voip ATA is registered to Montreal. Or vice-versa. Check to ensure your DID is using the same server as your ATA. You may want to change the SIP.CA1.VOIP.MS to the equivalent IP Address. If you're using the DNS Name it sometimes causes issues.

I had the issue in the begining where i set my ata to ca1 or ca2 and my voip.ms account was the opposite,, but that was resolved first night i was setting up service,, tomorrow ill give my line a shot if it rings the first time im pretty sure the issue is resolved,, either way when i look in the CDR i can see calls that were placed to my line but the phones never rang,, like i said if i place a call on my voip.ms then it seems like incoming calls are resolved until whenever..

You can check voip.ms to see if you ATA is registered too, and to what server. That might help.
If none of this works, then it could be an issue with your ATA. |

Hello,
I just setup voip.ms last night with a softphone as a test.. wow.. slick system. I do have a few questions. Is the SP2012 ok? (Dlink 614, Rogers & 2 Panasonic analogue cordless phones ( 1 base station) Also I have a bell single business (Toronto area). It is any reason I cannot transfer to voice.ms (it is portable). (It's a home office line that does not get a lot of use. Can I use the voip.ms residential service?) what would you estimate the up-time % for voip.ms is? I have been waiting for a Canadian skypein #. This seems to negate that need, or am I missing something. There is a lot of info here to read & digest, which I'm doing but are there any essentials I should know quickly. Thanks in advance Tony |

Welcome, Tony
Yes, the SPA-2102 is an excellent ATA. I had stability problems with the D-Link 614 router but it could just have been that particular router that's bad. If you're not having any problems, then just leave as is. I have been with them over a year and astonishingly have not seen any downtime due to their unique multiple server setup. Historically, it has been very reliable. Quote:

well seems like issues i was having have gone away,, now one last trick here,, the time is never right for some odd reason. I've updated the daylight savings time string, i've manually set the time, im on the right time zone, but somehow the clock always wants to revert back an hour, i set the time manualy and i havent kept track on how long it takes but it will eventually go back an hour. My router is feeding the ATA and its time is correct. Am i missing something?

You might be using the wrong DST settings. Go to Regional Settings and replace what you've got with:
start=3/8/7/2:0:0;end=11/1/7/2:0:0;save=1 Also make sure to be using the correct time adjustment from the Greenwich Mean Time. For eastern Canada, it's -5.00. |
