I've ordered 2 DIDs through voip.ms and although they assigned me a number, the number did not work until a day or two later. It was not immediate. I am surprised that your new number worked at all, let alone 30 minutes. Did you receive a call on the new number, or was the 30 minute call a call that originated on your end?

I have a toll free DID for a while. It didn't work when I signed upo. They got it working (provider problem?). It wirked. Then I went out of town about a week later. When I needed it it did not work. They fixed it and testing worked again. The other day my brother couldn't get through either. Then they got their service fixed(not the provider this time) and it worked, possibly for 24 hours or less. This afternoon at an event I was at I decided to try it again. My cell would not connect again. My wifes did later and mine did later but not this afternoon.
About ready to giveup on the toll free or any other DID for incoming. If this is service?....... ![]() Maybe I am doing something wrong. I am call forwarding to my home number. |

Do you have any "time" conditions setup on your call forwarding? Have you specified a failover in case the first routing fails?

No time conditions. Same number for failover(I thought this was perfect). I have a setting which is last resort set to voice mail. If I can't forward to a number without an alternative, then the call forward is no good to me.

Is the number you are forwarding to a voip number? If yes, it's possible that the voip line is not working.
I have been lucky I guess because I have had no trouble with call forwarding and I use it often. Two weeks ago I was traveling and received all voip calls on my cell via forwarding. I checked the call log every now and then just to see if a call came in when I was out of the range of a cell tower. It was flawless. Hopefully voip.ms can check into this for you. |

Thanks for the input. I was forwarding to my home phone(telco), not a voip number. This was part of the testing and if it worked flawlessly as you have experienced I was on my way to no telco phone, but so far not good. We'll see. Thanks again.
PS Strange silence on the email I sent this weekend regarding the problem. We'll see if I get a response from Service. PPS I am a pretty good techie having stayed abreast of developments over the past 40 years. I have occasionally been at fault with a problem but only occasionally...and this site has helped me with this set up quite a bit which avoided a few misunderstandings/pitfalls. |

The TIME and CALLER ID FILTER are a little tricky. If you have a filter set like this:
ROUTE=cell phone FAILOVER=none Then if you go to your Manage DIDs and set: ROUTE=Cfwd to mom's phone FAILOVER=voicemail The Caller ID filter will take priority over the regular Call Fwd routing if the call coming in matches the definition you setup for the caller id filter option. I'm wondering if you have any filter setup where your calls are slipping into. I got caught on this once and calls that I thought would be forwarded were not. If you have any caller id filter, try deleting it and testing the forwarding again. |

I give up. If none of these are set, I don't know why it is not working.
Best of luck. |

hi dennism3, you say you're forwarding to your home phone (telco). Who is your telco? Is your home phone a voip or landline?

It's telus. It's working now. It just didn't when I wanted to use it. I also forwarded an email and ticket number back to support and it has been strangely silent for about 48 hours. Anyway, if it starts to work consistently, then fine, else I will move on.

Anyone here mucking w/ the DTMF Mode setting on the Account Setting page?
Yesterday morning, I couldn't get into a conference call. I dialed the local access number and when requested, punched-in the conference #, but the automated operator continued asking for the #. I tried this a couple of times, then figured I'd change the DTMF Mode to Info. That immediately resolved my problem, until later in the day we discovered the same problem accessing voip.ms voicemail. This time the system wasn't picking up our speed-dialed password. Again, I figured it was related to the DTMF Mode change, so I reversed it (back to Auto) and voicemail was happy again. Anyone else seeing this and found a better solution? |
