I was having lots of problems with my voip.ms setup recently also. My problem was about 3 weeks ago, and out of the blue about 90% of outgoing calls would not have any sound on my end but the recipient could hear me fine. I messed around with setting for 2 days with no luck, finally changed to Chicago and haven't had a problem since. I think the Toronto servers are either overloaded, or not configured correctly.

It's not the first time I read about issues with the Toronto servers - don't know what's up with that. You should report it to voip.ms (if you haven't already). The more problems are reported, the most likely they are to seriously look into issues (sorry for stating the obvious... )

When I bought my Linksys ATA 7 month ago, it had firmware many years old. Which I upgraded from their website. I thought that was profoundly crummy of Linksys.

Perhaps this is an issue in bad service for others.

I get the feeling they never updated the firmware on the actual units. I bought mine in February and the firmware was pretty old. First thing I did before anything else was update the firmware.

Anyone know if the "main" number has an extension? I'd like to be able to call it from an extension/sub-account by just dialing that number. I have assigned extensions to all my sub-accounts so calling those devices is trivial.

This seems to be the only thing I'm not able to do.

TIA!

I don't see an option to set the extension for the main account. I don't use the main account. I have 2 sub-accounts setup and that's all I use. You don't need to use the main account.

Default Call waiting Tone Cadence

Hi guy !

First, great thanks to Mango, your blog makes it easier to configure my linksys pap2t.

Ok, I'm new to this voip world. I got a voip.ms account, bought a Linksys Pap2t, port my number to it. I'v set it up quite easily.

I've search this tread but its quite long and didn't really find an answer. So...

Everything is working perfectly except one thing. When I receive a second call (call waiting) the tone I receive is quite aggressive (not the one like Bell). For now it sounds more like a single high pitch tone repeated every 10 seconds.

By default the CWT1 Cadence (Call waiting Tone): 30(.3/9.7)

And my CWT Frequency: is 440@-10

I change the CWT Frequency to 440@-19 (guess -19 would be less aggressive to my ear).

I saw on the INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATION UNION website the tones-0203.pdf files they said that in USA / Canada the frequency is 440 (don't know the db value) and the cadence is 2x(0.3 on 10.0 off).

How do you set that to the Linksys pap2t ? maybe CWT1 Cadence: 30(.3/.3,.3/9.7) ?

What does the 30 mean before the ( ).

Anybodies with the same issue ?

Thanks !

Sorry Zekev, your question is way above my knowledge. Hopefully someone will have the answer you're looking for.

Alternately you could try to find a detailed manual for the PAP2T on Cisco's web site. I'm not talking about a user's manual but rather an administrator's manual or something like that. Maybe the Cisco forums?

Hi !

Thanks Gimli, I did find the admin manual do a search for ATA_AG_v3_NC-WEB.pdf and you have it. They dont really tell what is the 30 before the ( ) but...

I did try to set the CWT1 Cadence like I mentioned 30(.3/.3,.3/9.7).

It's working I can hear a nice double beep but the 9.7 (guess it's the interval) is too long. I can only have 2x double beep before the voicemail takes the call.

I will set this lower maybe to 6.

So, hope this will help other with their call waiting tone.

Gimli, was it your post about using sub-account and the linksys pap2t line and line 2 to take the waiting call on the line 2 or use 2 phones with only one line ? Great post, nice idea, just have to buy a second phone to try it... when my kids will grow, I'll do that

Default Voicemail access option

Hi guys !

Any of you had this problem before. I access my voicemail with *97 but cannot press 1 to hear them or any number. Nothing works when I'm in the voicemail system. It worked before but maybe I changed something on my linksys pap2t. Its working when I'm using a softphone.

Guys, It seems tha my proble is that I set the DTMF Tx Method to InBand as recommended by Mango

"To solve the other party hearing sounds as if you had pressed a digit, set DTMF Tx Method to InBand. You may also need to set this on your VoIP provider's control panel."

I switch it back to Auto on my linksys and leave it to In band on voip.ms. I'll check if other party are still hearing beep sound.

After one trial, the other party didn't hear those beeps. It was an outbound call. But so far so good.

So setting the "DTMF Tx Method=Auto" on my linksys pap2t and "DTMF Tx Method = InBand" on voip.ms seems to resolve the problem.

Hello cheebster

There havent been any issues today however you do not have to use MTL server, feel free to please try with other like Chicago or Seattle, and let us know if you experience the same issues too.

Thank you
