Hello, here is the information per the VoIP.ms issue tracker:

-------------------------------------------------------
August 5, 2011, 9:40 am

VoIP.ms website became unreachable this morning.

We have already restored the service and it is working properly now.

Please note that VoIP services were not affected by this outage.

---

Update: We have identified the cause. For the moment, we have brought the service online, but to prevent this from happening again, we'll have a scheduled maintenance during the night to replace a piece of hardware.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Default Cell phone use with voip.ms

I've put an activated iPad micro sim into my iPhone 3Gs and I am able to go online via data only.
How can I integrate this with voip.ms?

I have voip.ms at home (2 lines and a DID that I use for call-back)

Can anyone help here please. I can use Skype of course but surely I can use voip.ms...

thank you

I don't really have any experience with iPhones so I can't give you any specific advice but I would think all you need to do is find a SIP phone app and install it on your iPhone. Then create a sub-account on voip.ms and configure your SIP phone app to use that sub-account.

Thanks Gimli - I figured that out and am trying to set up Acrobits but Acrobits is not recognizing my SIP. Missing a cog somewhere.

Thank you FunkyTown but 3CX requires 4.2 or later. My iPhone is jailbroken and only at 4.0.1

Default Cell phone use with voip.ms

When setting up my Sub Account to use with my cell which Device type do I choose?

Also when iPhone software asks for my username is that 115559_101 which I am using or do I leave out the underscore?

I'm way beyond my geek level here.

It should be ATA. The underscore userid is your sub-account, correct? If you want to use the sub-acct then you need to include the underscore and suffix. Otherwise you'll be using your main account.

thank you - I'm presently setting up Sipfone - it asks for domain and proxy - I assume that the domain is voip.ms - the proxy?

Sipfone isn't listed specifically but I'm sure you can figure out the proper config from the other soft phone sample configurations posted here: http://wiki.voip.ms/article/Softphones

Thank you so much Gimli and FunkyTown.

cracked it - So slick with voip.ms I just added a ring group to my home DID. Now both phones ring when a call comes in. When I call out from my cell the caller ID shows that I am calling from home. So I just have one number. Going to cancel my cell contract.

I'm receiving calls on my iPhone and push is working (had to activate it from within the Acrobits app) - now to figure out texting - might have to use a different softphone client for that - maybe even a separate program and number altogether. As I recall when I've sent a text to what has turned out to be a home number then Bell converts it to a voice message...

The conversion to voice message seems to happen at the receiving end. I had thought the same thing so shortly after moving our home phone from Bell to voip.ms I had sent the home # a text message from my Bell Cell phone.

Nothing ever arrived at home No indication at all that a text had been sent.

I'm a bit confused about how it works - I think it is a Bell feature. My challenge now is to figure out how to send text messages to folks cell phones, and receive them. Not everyone has smartphones. I don't feel like paying for the service either. One of the reasons I'm on this 'mission' is because the transmission of information cost is practically zero these days and there is no reason to be paying high prices anymore.
