UPDATE: Okay, I have composite video almost working. I was able to see the receiver's interface and hear the broadcast audio, but not see the broadcast video. Now it's stuck on "Press SELECT to continue," but it's not responding to the remote. The receiver isn't frozen, and I've reset it several times.
I suspect this is because my remote #2 has been reconfigured to use the black UHF tag. (Remote #1 died a while ago, and I had a Bell rep walk me through turning the blue "2" tag over to the black side, so it would work using IR instead of UHF.) However, I don't know how to restore remote #2 to use the blue tag, especially without being able to see anything on the screen. -- I'm not sure if this problem is related to my TV or the 9200 receiver. I have tried a new component cable, and have ruled that out as the problem. The problem is that nothing is displaying on my TV. When the "Y" plug of the component cable is connected, the built-in TV text ("VIDEO 2 COMPONENT") appears jittery. When only the other two plugs are connected, the text is clear as normal. Is there any way to hook up the receiver via composite or S-video? I have tried using the composite connections with the "TV2" output on the receiver, but that doesn't work (the composite input on the TV are working with my DVD player). My TV doesn't have HDMI input, and only has the one component input. The receiver otherwise seems to be working properly. The lights still indicate when it is on or off, and when it is recording. Remove the DVD until you fix the problems, then restore the DVD.
Is the TV capable of accepting 720p or 1080i.? If not hook up with Composite as above and change the output of TV1 to 480i, then the Component should work. |

The DVD player is definitely not related to either problem; I only mentioned it to show how I know that the composite input on the TV is working. Also, the TV is SD, not HD.
I'd really like the edit the original post to more concisely outline what is right now my main concern, which right now is just getting the remote to work with TV2. The component defect means either my TV or receiver are on the fritz, so if I can just get the remote working with TV2 (composite), that'll save me from having to replace either for the time being. As I can't edit my original post, I'll start a new thread. Please let this thread die unless someone has any insight into the defective component problem, or the composite issue I was having (before the remote issue popped up), which is with the broadcast video not displaying despite the receiver's interface displaying. I'm going to try and be as concise as possible here. Remote #1 died a while ago, so a Bell tech walked me through converting remote #2 for use with TV1 via IR. To do this, I had to flip the tag on the bottom of the remote, so that the tag is now black and has "UHF" etched on it.
Now I want to be able to use remote #2 for TV2, but I don't know how to reconfigure (or "backwards configure") the remote. To make things more interesting, I'm not able to see TV1, as the component input is on the fritz, which is why I'm now trying to use TV2. The TV is standard def, so I have no other output options for TV1 at the moment. I welcome any suggestions. Ideally, there would be a way to get the remote to easily toggle between controlling TV1 and TV2. If I can't get remote #2 to work, I'll have to replace either the receiver or TV (whichever one I'm able to determine has the defective component input/output), neither of which I can afford to do at the moment. Please help! |

Pull your smartcard out. THis will cause the reciever to go to the System Info screen. Press "record" on your remote. This should cause the reciever to switch to the address programmed into your remote. Reinsert the card.

I was suggesting using the working Composite lines, not implying any problems with the DVD.

Re-programming the Remote is covered in your othere thread.
Why not just pick up another Remote.? Look on E-Bay, much cheaper than Bell. |
