Default VGA to Component

After viewing Marks post I was in the process of ordering a VGA to Component Transcoder until I saw the warnings for that setup. My question is will my Dell Dim XPS 3.0 GHz with a 128MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card support the necessary 480i, 480p,540p and1080i at 60Hz formats so as not to damage my HDTV. If not what else would I need to do.
Thanks Wade

Most people agree that the ATI cards do a better with HDTV's because of their ability to handle different frequencies and refresh rates. I would suggest a 9000 or better.

This is not techincally true. Not all resolutions run at 60Hz. Refer to this guide over at AVS Forums. It was quite helpful in helping me set up my HTPC.

Thanks Wade
