Default TSN-ALT SD on Shaw 290

TSN is listing TSN Alternate feed (TSN-Alt) on Shaw 290 on their webpage:
Schedule here:
http://www.tsn.ca/feature/?fid=11103

In order to provide more sports coverage for fans, the TSN alternate feed will carry live event coverage that is not available on TSN due to prior programming commitments.

OK, now this is sounding like TSN-Alt is here for more than "just" hockey. About time. Good stuff nonetheless.

Hopefully it's available permanently this time. I remember TSN-Alt appeared last year for a while and then disappeared in the late spring/early summer.

I heard a rumor about getting a permanent Alt channel for TSN Alt programming and for Sportsnet regional HD programming as well. I think it would be a permanent channel and have PPV when alt programming was not on. Hopefully this will still be the case but things change very quickly.

Even though they put the channel on because of the hockey playoffs, hockey doesn't get priority. Case in point: I recorded Friday's Flyers-Capitals and missed the whole first period because of extended Masters golf coverage. Good thing I kept fast forwarding until the hockey came on or I would have thought it was all golf.

On Friday the first period was available on the Alt feed until they cut over from the Golf. There were banners at the bottom of the screen indicating this as well. Who knew that golf would run late? LOL

Oh, then I must have recorded TSN's main channel. Oh well. No biggie.

I'm in Saskatoon,
and it's too bad Shaw doesn't know how to use TSN-ALT...A few days ago it was showing a CBC-TOR feed and now its showing the exact same thing as the main TSN feed, and not what is listed in the program guide...way to screw up a good thing Shaw!

My neighbors Starchoice is receiving the proper TSN-ALT feed..ugh.

mick101, did you phone the Saskatoon Shaw office to see what they said?

ironically, I was about to give them a call, so I checked once more and it was fixed, so I don't know what happened, but all is well now.

Has TSN-Alt disappeared from anyone else's channel guide? I tried entering 290 and no luck with that, either.

It and the 2 CBC channels are gone as they are not needed now as they were for the NHL playoffs for games that conflicted with other games.

TSN-Alt may not be needed for the NHL playoffs this season, but Shaw should have TSN-Alt somewhere on the dial. There's no reason it should have disappeared entirely.
