As the summer repeat season approaches, I'd like to see a feature that would allow me to suspend my timers until the new season. This would be especially useful where I have set a timer to record all episodes.

While this can be implemented, it may be a bit tricky for the consumer, as the networks have been shifting the standard TV season around for years.

A simple fix
Just have a working EPG, with accurate/correct info in it Then set the receiver to record all new episodes... And then I want a pet unicorn |

I totally agree
My PVR gets filled up too, with shows the wife is afraid to miss.... Its funny how other providers can tell their customers what the original air date is Maybe someone at expressvu, can use another providers EPG, and then update the ExpressVu EPG to reflect the program info, instead of the old "N/A" |

it wouldn't take much for this to work. If you noticed, all first run shows (for the most part) has a " new. " in the description. It wouldn't take much for Echostar to get the pvrs to parse this info to detect first run or rerun for the PVR.

During the summer I usually delete all timers and create new ones for the summer runs.
In the fall the shows you were watching often get moved to a different day/time anyway. As the schedule is revealed it is easy enough to put them back in. Although I agree it would be nice to put a show on permanent hold (until you release it) there are lots of reasonable options: a) delete the timers and recreate when required. Only take s afew seconds to create a timer. b) let them run anyway, then delete the recorded shows. It may surprise you and grab something you misseed c) Go through once a week and "ship" the ones you don't want. |

What they really need to do is make folders for you same show recordings, and maybe implement some channel icons next to the recordings like Tivo does in Canada and the states.

Everybody has some really great ideas but I was just thinking about my original request. If history repeats, every time Bell tries to bring out something new, they end up breaking something else. Maybe my original request might not be such a good thing

Usally it isn't Bell that put's out software updates like the one you are requesting... It would be Echostar that would do something like that.

I don't think so nico
It is Echostar hardware, but I believe Bell releases all software upgrades |

The features in my experience work properly. It's the channels faunlt for not providing proper episode numbers. I think the CRTC needs to make stricter rules for episode numbers provided to the BDU's

Both the broadcasters and EV are at fault. Some broadcasters are bad at providing info. OTOH, publicly available information is often missing from EV's guide or the information is incorrect in EV's guide. Even when the information appears to be correct visually, it often has erroneous NBR info.

How about a color coded program guide like Shaw.
