Just a note that Jason from CBC Vancouver has been a DHC member for the last year or so and tries to visit whenever he can. Hat's off to CBC and Global (BCTV) staff!

Nobody's ever joined here from CIVT-DT CTV, as far as I know, but it sure would be great.

Thanks Stampeder. I think it's great news that Global is online now. The more the merrier. I definitely enjoy watching DTV OTA. Might be awhile before we see another one come on from Mt. Seymour.

Hi all, getting Global 22-2 at 90+ strength. Much better than CTV.

How long is the on screen identification message gonna be staying? It's getting a bit annoying...

Default Something's changed

Looks like they configured/upgraded/duct-taped something. When I do a scan now I see:

[0002]:521028615:8VSB:256:272:2
CIVT-DT:587028615:8VSB:33:36:2
Vancouver HD:737028615:8VSB:129:132:8

The first entry is new. I believe it corresponds to Global. Just need a symbolic name now instead of '[0002]'.

This also suggests that MythTV may be able to do a scan and see Global now. If nothing else, in theory, the above info can be fed into MythTV as a channels.conf file (perhaps changing [0002] to something useful first). I'm not at home now, so I can't try.

I don't have a clue about Media Center.

Hah. Just checked again and the signal is gone (4:25pm).

It is now 20:19 h and still no signal (all evening).

I was though amazed on Saturday evening to see an actual 16:9 HD promo clip in the middle of a commercial brake. I don't even know of any stations even infact broadcasting HD content on the first day of signal sign-on.
I was hopping to see Saturday Night Live in HD, but it was a bit of disappointment there.

Ya Operah was the time it went off. I guess they are really getting the configuration tuned ( I hope thats the case ) When it comes on this next time I'd bet all those that had problems will be able to get it. I was comparing the TSlite info for the CHAN and the KVOS and KCPQ dt chanels and there was a lot of different entries and many in my view missing and I know nothing about what the reports really mean but on a comparing level CHAN DT had a very small report.

Default Comparing 22.2 reception in Bellingham

My reception in Bellingham with garage antenna 10 years old with rotar (pic attached). Its a Radio Shack VU-120XR (VHF-UHF-FM).

CBUT 2.1 (Freq: 737000Khz) Signal strength 70-76
CIVT 33.2 (Freq: 587000Khz) Signal strength 30-35 no picture no lock
CHAN 22.2 (Freq: 521000Khz) Signal strength 32-38 blip to 98 no pic no lock
KVOS 12.1 (Freq: 599000Khz) Signal strength 84

Question: Instruction sheet that came with the antenna contained no info regarding sensitivity to frequencies. I know CIVT is operating on a 9-volt battery, however, that is not the case with CHAN...could it be that this antenna is not sensitive to the 521000Khz ? and possibly to some extent the 587000Khz of CIVT ?

It picks up analog 2,6,8,10,12,17,26,32,and 42.

Bruce

If your antenna can get all those VHF & UHF analogue channels, and CBUT DT (chan 58), then channel 22 (physical location of CHAN) is right near the middle of your antenna's response range. It looks like your antenna's a pretty strong design, so maybe you need a better preamp or to put it in a better location. What are you using to measure signal strength?
