Default Man Shot Dead by Killer Robot He Built With His Own Hands

AN 81-year-old man has used an intricate suicide machine to remotely shoot himself, after downloading the plans from the internet. He spent hours searching the internet for a way to kill himself, downloaded what he needed and then built a complex machine that would remotely fire a gun.

Strange, why go to all that trouble?
Not condoning suicide but there are easier ways.
Maybe he liked building robots and this was his farewell.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to end it all but, since that's how he wanted to go, good for him

Seems like a pretty stupid amount of effort to achieve the result - does this merit a Darwin Award?

he clearly achieved what he probably wanted - a death with publicity. it's not that uncommon though still unfortunate.

He probably also wanted to publicly lay a guilt trip on his relatives when he "left notes of his plans and thoughts as he struggled to come to terms with demands by interstate relatives that he move out his home and into care".

Oh come on people. Enough with the bad jokes. This will give a bad name to robots....

Seriously, the guy was pretty talented to come up with such a scheme. Too bad he didn't use this wisdom wisely. I'm sure JPL labs would need more people like him.

The guys relatives were trying to put him in a home. If he had health issues that were the cause of it, it would only be downhill. Those are miserable places - I'm not sure I'd ever want to be put in a place like that. Perhaps he did use his wisdom wisely.

I guess it makes sense what you wrote nfitz. Who would want to be in a home? Just seeing my dad pass his last days on a hospital bed (3 months) was awfull. I can just imagine myself in a home.....yuck.
