Director of The English Patient Anthony Minghella has passed away at 54.

He underwent surgery last week for a growth in his neck, and died today 18th of March of a fatal hemorrhage.

I saw this headline when I logged into sympatico earlier today. What a sad thing. It just goes to show you that you need to treasure every day and that no surgery is "routine".

He should have had at least another 30 good years to share his craft.
