I'm a bit of a newbie, but will any of those HDNET NHL games be broadcasted through any of the HD channels ExpressVu is offering?

Great, no Leaf games at all. Here'e hoping that one of CBC, SportsNet or TSN come to the rescue !

HDNET is not yet available in Canada. An application has been submitted to the CRTC.

This schedule is for only the first half of the season, so the Leafs could be on later in the year, but i doubt it.

Don't remember seeing the Leafs on HDNET before. Besides, they are in the US and its unlikely they will travel north of the border.

Besides, the Leafs will be on in HDNET on the CBC, TSN and Sportsnet.

umm .. the Leafs do play a few games on the road

last year I think there were 2 or 3 games on HDNET, with one I'm pretty sure against Dallas ...

Chances are we'll be see some Leaf's games on HD this year, with Sportsnet, TSN/ESPN .. and maybe perhaps even CBC ..

Leafs are big money in Ontario, and I can't imagine they would be shut out with HD really starting to catch on with the Canadian providers...

Most of the HDNET games last year were from Western based cities. I noticed a few this year are in the East, including one in Buffalo.

Since Toronto plays most of there road games in the east, few oppurtunites exist to show them.

Some folks over at AVS didn't think the PQ was as good as last year. I thought it was pretty good. The camera angles, sound etc were excellent.

Denver has a good offensive team. The goaltending situation shold be interesting this year for the.

A full one-third of those games (11 of 33, by my count) invlove Canadian teams, and there's not likely a hope in hell we'll be able to see them in HD up here. That's just wrong.

It would be nice to think the swiftness with which a deal was forged for HDNet to be able to broadcast yesterday's Heritage Classic might bode well for future HD partnerships between CBC, HNIC and HDNet. Of course, we also thought the same thing when BEV teased us with a few HDNet hockey games a couple of years ago, and since then, bupkuss...

Perhaps future HNIC telecasts might end up on HDNET but since CBC only shows Saturday night games (outside of the playoffs and the odd Sunday game) i can't imagine CBC showing HDNET games.

That being said, it's really up to TSN and Rogers Sportsnet to fill the HD hockey void in Canada either by picking up HDNET games or doing there own.

ESPN HD are showing hockey starting Mid-January, so perhaps TSN will pick up a few of these.

There's a grand total of FOUR ESPN-HD games that coincide with TSN's hockey schedule:

1/15 Dallas @ Col
1/22 Phi @ NYR
1/29 NYI @ Bos
3/25 Det @ Col

February is lost due to ESPN's commitment to US college basketball.

Perhaps TSN should step up and actually produce some HD games on their own. They did a good job with their CFL games. They better be spending some of that monthly $1.99 surcharge if they expect me to pay it come January.

4 is better than nothing plus ABC should have HD hockey as well. Can't remember if they did last year or not.

Default Leafs on HD

Since Sports Net has HD Raptor games ie they have cameras in the ACC, why not use them to televise Leaf games in HD???? I figure the market for the Leafs would be greater than the Raptors.

Because the middle of the week Leaf games on TSN or Sportsnet are produced by the team, using its own equiptment. CBC produces the HNIC games.

Sportsnet produces all the Raptors games for itself, Toronto1 and Global.

Although it would be NICE to see some games in HD, the games themselves generally aren't that intense til after the All Star Break...

... I'm thinking with the surge in HD ready units sold last year (50% of all sold last Christmas season) and the latest season upon us, the consumer demand is going to hit the fan... very shortly.

One way or another we'll get HDNHL on our plates, and then the players will be locked out for oh... a year.
