Hi, I'm a newbie and know little about this stuff but have been lurking for about a year since I purchased my shaw pvr. The first shaw pvr was a lemon and they really did keep changing it up until finally they ended up going up the ranks to completely return it and give me the latest and greatest 3 months ago. I have been very happy with this one.
The question I have now is... I am going to purchase a new TV for my bedroom and want a pvr for this tv. Is there a newer model than the one I have, the DCT6416 III, and is it a really good one as well, or am I better of to sell the one I have and completely switch to satellite now that I need more than one for my house? |

This DCT is coming to Shaw sometime in the next few months. Apparently supports an e-SATA HDD up to 1.6TB, RCA and component inputs, on-screen closed captioning and aspect ratio options. Same IPG as current Motorola boxes. |

The specs on this HD PVR are:
GRAPHICS 16/32 Bit Per Pixel, 960 x 540 and 854 x 480 resolution. Graphics presented on HDMI, Y, Pb, Pr, CVBS and S-Video simultaneously. How can this be considered an HD PVR when the max res is 540. Shouldn't that be 1080 or at least 720? EDIT: oh I think it means the graphics for the on-screen UI... Last edited by Roastbeef; 2008-03-13 at 03:13 PM. Reason: probably answered my own question |
