A caution for those that view the video, its not for the squeamish. It had been edited some. I saw it live and I almost lost my lunch. Scary scary incident. I think they should of cancelled the last few minutes of the game, who wants to play after that.

POLL QUESTION:
Should the Game have been canceled following the incident with Richard Zednik last night between the Florida Panthers at Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena? YES NO ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a very horrific scene as I watched the game last night on Centre Ice Package. I'm glad he is now recovering in hospital from the incident, and I do think they should have canceled the game and replayed the rest of it tonight. No mater what the case is, a life is way more important than a game in any situation and I think the NHL dropped a bomb on this one as none of the players minds were on playing the game as they were clearly focused on the health of Richard Zednik.

A very scary incident
He is in stable condition in the hospital, so I guess the right decision was made to play on If they ended the game early, it would have opened a whole other can of worms |

I saw it on the news and they were talking to a doctor about the incident. A good thing that Zednik applied instant pressure on his throat or he would've been toast. While they were talking to this doctor, they showed a similar incident that involved some goalie but since I never watch hockey, I couldn't tell you which team he was. The sad part of that clip, the referees are breaking up players in the background while the goalie is just laying there, spraying a new red line in front of his gaols....and nobody even notices that he is in trouble.

Is Malarchuk still playing (or at least, how long was he out of the game?)

He was back on the ice in two weeks but it was near the end of the season. Malarchuk is now the goalie coach for Columbus.

Great to hear he didn't die from it. Seeing him lay there, painting a new red line in front of his goals while nobody helps him, was just unbelieveable!!!

I agree life is more important than a game. But, you can't cancel it. They take him to the hospital and fix him up. Once hes off the ice, what are the rest of the players going to do? Playing the rest of the game actually takes your mind off of a horrific accident.

That was a very creepy incident, I remember seeing a Buffalo goalie on video with blood gushing from his neck artery many years ago. I can't watch that kind of stuff, not sure how a doctor gets the courage to deal with such a scene...but thank goodness for them.
