Default 6416 Fast Forward/Rewind Problem

I've found that with either the 2 arrow fast forward or rewind nothing happens, all it does is pause the picture. It's not until i go to 3 arrow either way do I get the desired response.

Thoughts?

Have you performed a cold reboot of the STB (unplug/replug)? See:

volvik, I have exactly the same problem on my 6412; I think it started last week. I haven't tried resetting the box yet.

Default progress on FF1 & REW1 problems on PBS HD Seattle?

Fianlly got a response:

Dear [DellaFalls],

Just thought you should know that I did forward your comments and observations to our Engineering Department for consideration. I do know that they are working with Shaw Cable to resolve this situation.

Thanks again for writing,

Best,

Subject: Possible Time code screw up on your HD transport stream

Message: I wrote about the symptons a few months ago, and never received a response. Then I saw a posting on www.digitalhome.ca :

I have no idea what those are, or why they occur, but my guess is that the STB can handle a certain length or number of them before a video or audio dropout occurs."

[DellaFalls] continues:
Interesting: As of Sept 28th when Shaw switched the PBS feed wee see in Victoria from KSPS Spokane to KSTS Seatle, immediately FF1 and REW1 became unusable * on PBS. I complained and the Shaw rep reproduced the problem on his machine, and said it sounded like a time code problem and they would have to contact the station. Months later still no luck.

* On FF1 or REW1 (on a Motorola DCT 6416 HD personal video recorder) the picture is jerky, the still frames come at irregular and widely spaced intervals. After advancing any where from 1 second to 10 min. through the show, it is guaranteed it will then jump all the way to the beginning or end of the show. It is a real pain when queuing up a section to show someone else an interesting bit.

All the other methods of skipping: skip 30 s, back 15 sec, FF2, REW3 etc. work fine
