Does anyone have experience with having an installer installing a dish on an apartment balcony?
What type of "authorization" does the installer need before he will install a dish/receiver on the balcony. I am renting. |

I had a dish installed on the roof of my apartment building and the landlord said it was fine. My installer took my word that it was ok'd but some installers require a written authorization from the landlord. I don't believe there are any specific forms to be filled out.

Just a letter from the landlord will do.

I have worked for a short time for Star Choice and there was a form in place, this is usually seen very positively by landlords when you take the time to ask for their authorisation and it also covers your provider from any law suit.
Note: If need be I could probably find a copy for you (I think I still have a folder around the house with that specific form). |

I rent from District Realty. In the lease there is a stipulation that you seek a permission letter from the landlord/site manager before installing a satellite dish. This is so that they may instruct you on how to install the dish.
In my case it could be attached to the railing, but not the building. My dish is actually clamped on to the railing with a backplate and 4 bolts holding it together. It has stood up against high winds. Technically, according to the lease you are not supposed to drill into the building, but the letter waives that rule for dish installation. Hope this helps. |
