No pricing and retail web links guys. Do your own research. I am just hear to express my surprise with the pricing of the 1080p lcd front projectors. Sanyo, Epson and Mitsubishi all have pricing for their 1080p lcd front projectors that is equal to that in HK and Japan, and now even Canadian pricing is comparable to US pricing. It's been a slow process to realize as I have shopped over the last month, but it is finally sinking in. Canadian 1080p lcd front projector prices in Canada are effectively similar to US pricing, both of which are no longer higher than hk and japan pricing. I am surprised. Of course, the 1080p lcd projectors are more expensive than the 720p models, but still, it's nice to see no more huge descrepincies anymore. I imagine if I shopped enough I would find pricing in the US that is very low, even lower than Canada, but at least it's not the 1/2 or double pricing that we used to see. Panasonic doesn't seem to be on board with the realistic pricing just yet, but I imagine they will have to be soon or lose their market share.
So anybody notice this long awaited equalization of pricing? Again, please, NO retail link examples. I am just pleased with this discovery and wanted to share my long awaited joy and relief from the years of Canada price gouging. |

Well I have been looking hard and I do see some price drops here in Canada still not par or even an even dollar conversion. Example I found two Sanyo modles that I have been looking at and there is a $305 price difference between the two countries. I found Epson to be a little better with only $200in the difference but there are others that have rebates in the US that are not currently avaiable to Canada. With that being said I am still going to purchase here in Canada and I am thinking for the price I have been quoted the PLV-Z2000 is a good deal and will fit my needs quite well.
Later Phil

Well, that's cool. Sounds about right. Sure is better than the x2 pricing of a couple of years ago. I remember when projectors on average were selling for 1.5 to 2 times as much in Canada than in the US.

I just bought the Epson HC720 (see review at Projector central). In my searching for this PJ I was pleased to see that the prices were exactly the same in Canada and the US. Canadian also got the same $100 rebate and a free spare bulb. I bought mine out of Quebec (I live in Ontario) so I paid no PST either. After tax, with rebate, with a free spare bulb, including shipping I paid $1285 for a 5 star rated projector. Very hard to beat that.

I too am thinking about the Epson. I was more interested in the Panasonic AX200 but Panasonic has horrendous customer service and are such price gougers to Canadians.

It's shocking, but true.
I'm looking at the 1080UB and it's almost precisely the same price as in the states. |

Sony Canada's MSRP of the VW60 SXRD/LCoS projector is the same as the US one. I hope they will do the same for their VW40.
Epson Canadian prices on the latest batch (1080UB, etc.) are almost the same as the US ones, I think. |

Please note:
You are welcome to quote MSRP and street pricing for projectors but no retail links etc. You are also welcome to link to the products on manufacturers site. If you want to start a deal thread for a specific projector please use the HDTV deals forum. |
