Lightbulb TiVo and MTS TV

I changed providers today, from Bell ExpressVu to MTS TV.

Setting up my TiVo to work with it was fine, until I got to the part where you set up how the TiVo changes channels on the MTS set top box, which is a Motorola RG2400V.

I couldn't get it to work, using Motorola as a brand of cable box.

TiVo tech support didn't have the RG2400 in their database.

MTS TV had a big web page with full instructions which they emailed me.
The key is, set the cable box brand to "Next Level Comm".
It works!

What that means is that you have a very early box, 1 st gerneration, they have newer boxes that are faster and better. Suggest you get an up-grade.

Just to clear things up....

The models of STBs from MTS are:
RG2200 - original box made by Next Level.
RG2400 - newest model made by Motorola after they purchased Next Level. Uses the same remote codes as the RG2200.
RG3000 - HD box.

The boxes are different and operate the same, except for speed, the ones made by Moto are way faster. Experience with them is what I base my opinion on, and they are 4 years or older (the ones made by next level)

How would I recognize the newer box?
Does it have a different model number?

Dave, you have the newest box (RG2400V) which is faster than the old box (RG2200).

Thanks, Dr. Dave.
I just ran the allstream speed test and got 3764 kbps.
I thought that was adequate.

I believe oldsaskatoonboy was referring to the response time when you press the buttons on the remote.
