Default Bracket for SW44??

Hello,

Anyone knows where I can get a mounting bracket (on the back of the dish) for a SW44?

I would like to mount it outside on the dish, this makes it a lot simpler for my installation.

These are supplied free of charge to Installers, so my suggestion would be to ask an installer if you run across one.

As an alternate, what about mounting on the wall directly behind the Dish.?

Ironically, even though these are supplied free by Bell TV, I know of one Installation Company in Shelburne, Ontario, that has the gall to charge his Techs, so if you live in this area, do not expect one for free.......lol

Although you say it is simpler in your case, I would strongly consider mounting it indoors if at all possible. It may be a bit more setup initially, but will likely extend the life of the unit as well as make potential troubleshooting or expansion in the future a lot easier.

Default SW44 Switch Outside

I had a sw44 switch mounted to my dish in the middle of November last year 2007. Last winter I kept losing my reception whenever it got really cold outside. I kept getting a message about my sw44 switch. The problem seemed to disappear when it got a little milder outside. I live in Northwestern Ontario it can get pretty could here in December and January. The wind chill gets really bad here in January.

The sw44 switch is causing me some grief, I installed Bell dish hooked up and checked signal outside and was strong on both 91 and 82 (tested individually to ensure I had two separate signals). Hooked lines up to switch sw44 91 to 1a/b and 82 to 2a/b and then ran a single line into grounding block, and plugged it in. Went to reciever (6141) and ran switch test and doesn't find 82 signal but has strong 91 signal. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you did everything correct.

try removing the input from the SW44 on the rear of the 6141 and run a "Check Switch". Replace the cable and run in again.

What about the other receivers on the SW44, are they getting BOTH signals.?

I am only running one reciever, I tried removing the line (read it in another thread) but will try again. Not sure why I can't get it to work.

Any reason you are using the SW44.?

An SW21 will work just fine with 1 receiver and it does NOT require a Power Inserter....

Default SW 44 Problems

ok I have had my SW 44 installed for months now , I think I put it up early spring time .
Tonight I went to watch some tv only to find out that I don't have any in the living room , model 6100. I did the normal stuff check switch and signal .

Living room is Line 1 with powered switch 6100
Bed room 6100 , works just fine
basement 3100 (OLD SD ) works just fine.

I get different errors coming back , from no signal , test fails , no switch found . even at one point it said invalid sat.
I checked the inline switch and plug in for power all looks good ,
at the moment I have great signal on 91 , 82 says wrong sat , and it's showing unknown switch or none installed.

I'm at a lost here , stuck ,

if the SW 44 switch is dead , I wouldn't be getting tv on others right ?
seems weird that it's just line one I would think .
but if anyone has any idea's , what would the results be if say a neighbor was to tamper around with the wires thinking they would get free tv (they aren't that smart)it's late and dark now so I didn't go up and check the lines but they were all connected

Default Check wiring first

As you suggested, its a little odd that you have partial service. If the SW44 has failed, you would expect it to be a complete failure and not a partial one, but I suspect a partial failure is still possible. Since the power is normally inserted on line 1, its unlikely that the wire is disconnected at the SW44, or else the other receivers should also be out of service.

So, the steps to try:

-confirm that connection is good at the back of the 6100 that is not working. (Don't assume that its impossible for something to get disconnected, actually check.)
-Move the 6100 to another room, where you know you have service, and swap it out. If the problem follows the 6100, then you know you have a bad receiver.
-Swap the wires on the SW44 (remember this will require you to move the power inserter to a different wire.) This will confirm if the port on the SW44 has failed.
-Try a borrowed or replacement SW44 power supply and/or replacement SW44.

I think if you follow the steps in that order your will find the problem with the least effort... meaning those steps are in order from least effort to most effort. (Given that the SW44 is outdoors and will require extra effort to reach and play with.)

Good luck!

thanks for the help , I started at the top of your list
,
I moved the 6100 to the bed room , ram check switch and passed , I then moved it back to the living room and ran check switch again , and it passed this time ,
I had checked the connections last night , but I guess today was just better ,
thanks for the help .

Question Adding a 3100 to SW44

Hi, just read through this thread and didn't find what I was looking for so I ask;
I just purchased a 9242 and had Bell install it. It came with an SW44 switch from Videopath. Everything is working fine. I would now like to add a 3100 receiver which I already have but want to check first before I connect any coax.
One side of the switch has the 4 feeds from the LNBs connected. The other side has 2 coax connected. One carrys the power back to the switch and the other carries the signal to the 9242.
Since the 3100 will only receive standard signal, I only need to get the signal from one satellite(91?). How can I tell which of the 2 vacant ports on the switch to connect the 3100?
Pretty basic but don't want to screw it up.
Thanks in advance
