Default Using 2 outputs from one multi-switch to feed another multi-switc

This works fine. I use two sw24, each feed from a dual LNB. Two outputs from each of the sw24s feed a sw44. The other pair of outputs feed two sw21. For a total of 6 outputs with both 91 and 82. Works great. No problems.
The sw24 are "passive", in the sense that the switches and receivers down the line do not have to deal with them, they just think they are talking to a LNB. If you connect a receiver directly to a sw42, and do a “switch check”, the receiver does not see the switch, it’s transparent. I maybe wrong, but this is why I believe the sw42 work so well.
In the world of FTA receiver the setups can get very complex, with several dishes and many switches, but that’s another topic.

maybe I mistyped what I meant to say.

I have never read anyone using a SW24 or multi-switch being feed the 2 lines from another SW24 switch or multi-switch.

I am not saying it doesn't work either. I just have never seen it or read it done this way.

Do SW21 switches need to be plugged into a power receptical to work ?
I am considering replacing my SD Dish at the cottage. I have one line going to each building (total 2)
If I put in the HD dish with the Dual LNB can I just add the two SW21 switches Outside with the dish) and send 91 and 82 to both buildings ?
Getting to a power source if I have to plug the switches in would be a huge pain

It would be a Bell dish with two either 6141's or 6100's

walldad,

No they do not need power source. Yes 2 SW21 switches would work fine for 2 single tuners.

I think I have my answer but just to clarify. I currently have one dual lnb with two lines into SW24 giving me four 91 outputs. Now I need one receiver to have 91 and 81, the other three receivers don't. If I get a second lnb, can I use a SW21 and combine one of the outputs from the SW24 and the second lnb together, resulting in three lines with 91 and one line with 91 and 82.

Also if this is correct, do i need to run two lines form the second lnb or one. Just trying to figure out if I need one or two SW21.

tsgee,

What you described is correct. If you want to add 91/82 into a dual tuner then you will need both lines into 2 SW21's and 2 lines from the SW24.

A similar setup using a 3x8 and SW44 (you can switch out the parts as mentioned) instead looks like this (this is what I have running):

So if I only need one receiver to have 82 and 91, I still have to run two lines from the second lnb and use two SW21. Or can I just run one line into one sw21?

Don't confuse "receivers" and "tuners".

If you are talking about a single tuner receiver, then yes.

You only need to use the SW21 to combine the signal from both sats for the tuner/receiver you want to receive signal from both.

Yes, only one receiver is to get both 91 and 82. Thanks for the information. The less lines I have to run into and around the house the better. So I just need to get one lnb, run one line from that and one line from the SW24 into one sw21 and from there to the one receiver.

I'm not getting a new receiver. I have three Bell 3100 and one 2700. They were all running fine on sat91 but now I have a request in the household to be able to get international stations off sat82 on one of the receivers.

I was looking for the cheapest way to accomplish that and since I didn't need sat82 on all the receivers. I think one SW21 solves my problem plus they are way cheaper than a SW44.

Yes cheapest and easiest way is one SW21 switch like you described with a lnb in 82 slot. One line from 82 direct from lnb and one line from sw24 switch goes into the SW21 switch and the output from there into the receiver.
