Default only some of our movies are upconverting

Hey everyone

We have our Samsung plasma set up and our Samsung upconverting dvd player, we put in 2 different backed up movies to test them the movie,

Transformers showed it upconverted at 1080i , but the other one only showed upconversion of 720 we could not get it to upconvert

does anyone know what the problem might be? is this a prob with our upconverter or the dvd?

Some of these Samsung DVD/TV combinations "talk to each other" over HDMI and revert to 720P when you first turn on the DVD player. I believe you can override the setting by pressing a buttton on the DVD player remote - something like HDMI or Format, or similar - read the manual for the DVD player. You may even have to go into the user menu - can't remember, depends on the model.

Having a movie upconvert to 720P instead of 1080i you will probably not notice a difference. Now, if it only sent 480i or 480P, then you may notice a difference, however, some TVs have such good conversion that the difference may be minimal.

yep! ok got it

it is the SD/HD button on the remote! , I'm slowly starting to understand the remote..

Sometimes i can see a difference between 720 and 1080i and sometimes i can not...

we also watched a HD show ( for us it is 1080i we can not get 1080p) , on the new plasma it was a documentary on Camono Dragons.... it was awsome videotograhy, it was like we were right there... because it was so much like photographs only moving ones hehehe!!
