i have the 61" i got in july/august last year and still actively love it. it replaced a 32" sony HD which i sat 11-12' from.
well, at first i struggled with the idea of a tv this huge. for movies i thought it was great, but for the news and everyday i decided it was overkill and vulgar to have such a massive piece of video. now? it's perfect! the size is great and i can't imagine going back. i also debated between this tv and a 52" LCD i could hang on the wall. all the salespeople then were telling me not to get a DLP - that i'd be so much happier with the LCD. in spite of not wanting to give up the real estate for a DLP, and wanting the cleaner look of a tv on the wall, i'm so glad i went the DLP route. the picture is awesome, and much more film-like to me. i couldn't be happier - and sealed the deal with a professional calibration which was well worth it. i might be weird, but i wouldn't do an even trade for a 61" LCD. |

hi all, just got the 67" from Visions last week, but immediately noticed the lower bottom corner of the screen has "soft, fuzzy or out of focus" image compared to the rest of the screen.
Has anyone encountered this problem and can it be fixed? |

I would take that back and exchange it immediately.

Take it back for repair or replacement. The bezels on these are rather thin and can warp if the tv is mishandled throwing the picture out of alignment or focus.

Can anyone comment on how the 61 or 67 inch models perform in a well lit room?
I currently have a 52 inch Toshiba DLP and it's unwatchable in daytime on a bright day. The issue is lack of brightness (as opposed to screen glare). I was thinking of going to LCD but I wanted something bigger than 52 inch at a reasonable price. Does the LED backlight make the A750's comparable to LCD in terms of brightness??

Quite well I would imagine. These units are torches. I have mine in the basement HT so I can't make a true comment but have read many posts that noted a well lit room was not an issue.

on my 61", unless the sun through the 4x3' window (on adjacent wall) is shining directly on the screen, it's totally watchable. Much better than my old CRT RP. And also no worse than my 21" Sony Trinitron.

Just hooked up the Telly to the slim PS3 and WOW!!!!
Movies and games look amazing!!! Great picture and amazing experience in 1080p At first I wasn't sold on the 1080p.....but now since I got the PS3 Bought the telly back in April 09 and was too busy and no Blu-Ray player to try the beast (67 inches model) The OTA pictures is pretty amazing too! Damn good HDTV set from Samsung!!! Best size/bang/picture quality for the buck!!

I concur. Michael TLV recently calibrated my 67 inch set, and I'm watching Blu Rays through an Oppo BDP-83. I'm thrilled with the picture! I sit about 6 feet away from the set (only really use this set to watch Blu Rays) and I'm thrilled with the image quality it pulls off, at such a low cost overall!

Calibrating really helps? What kind of difference did you notice, before and after. I have a 73" Mitsubishi and debating if I should have someone come and calibrate it, looks quite good as is.

Yes, I would say calibration helps for sure. I agree that the picture on my set looked great to me out of the box. With some minor adjustments made with my DVE Blu Ray (which I suppose you can call a type of calibration), I noticed big improvements in the amount of detail I could make out in the picture, particularly dark scenes.
Depending on what you're after, a calibration from a professional who owns all the necessary analysis gear could be worth it as well. For me, knowing that I was watching material that looked as close as possible to what the director intended us to see at home was worth spending the extra money. And in my case, I did see improvements to the picture that I could notice. But I guess that's also a function of how well you are able to calibrate it on your own before getting a professional in to take it to the next level. I've also owned 2 sets prior to this set, and have currently have 2 more sets that were/are all ISF Calibrated as well, so it's quite possible that I notice a difference between ISF calibrated and non-ISF calibrated sets that some others may not (a couple of my friends and my wife, for instance, don't see a huge difference from when I had calibrated the set myself). Anyway, don't know if I helped at all, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's hard to determine if a professional calibration will definitely improve the quality of the picture to your eyes. But what it should do if performed correctly is give you as accurate a picture as possible on your set. When I say accurate, I refer to what the director of the material wanted you to see at home. |

Not a chance!
I'm still wowed by my 61" version of this set. Probably one of the few pieces of tech equipment of mine that's close to two years old that I see no need or desire to upgrade anytime in the near future. |
