I always thought Centre Ice had a "preview" channel that showed all the games happening on one screen... did they do away with that?

That's Centre Ice multi-view channel is only on Expressvu.

I am wondering the same. I was thinking of signing up when the season started, but after watching the free preview for a while, they had so many glitches like this, (games showing in the guide, but not able to view them), that I decided not to sign up. Looks like things haven't changed much.

The Montreal game is on centre ice HD (channel 469)from *c,it's funny Shaw didn't pick it up from them seeing they are the same company almost. It's also on the Sportsnet HD feed on channel 298.Florida/Tampa game also on in HD channel 270 (fyi).

Why doesn't Shaw unlock the HD games? All the SD games are there, but I can't watch the Tampa/Florida game or the Montreal/NYR game on channels 298 and 299.

Just checked again and both games are up on Shaw's 298 and 299. Somebody must have flipped the switch.

When Shaw added the channels that included 298 they said it was a shared Centre Ice HD/Sportsnet HD2 channel and that is my understanding how it continues to work.

I turned to 298 (I think; or 299) and was a bit underwhelmed by the picture. Hit Recall on my Panny remote, and the signal was coming over as 480p! The other HD channels were all coming across at 1080i... even those with windowboxed content.

So when is HD not HD??? Caveat emptor if Centre Ice is always that way.

Both channels were in HD for me around 5:30 PM PST. I don't know if they were 1080i, but they definitely were not 480P. Was the picture widescreen?

Widescreen... hmm... I thought so, but couldn't swear to it. The Panny automatically stretches 4:3 content, and I'm getting pretty used to the Just mode, so I might have just assumed. The 480p surprised me, because I'm pretty sure I had the 4:3 override on the Shaw box set to 480i... though I've gone back and forth a couple of times.

Sorry; not a very scientific observation. What I do know for sure (because I checked other HD channels to make sure they were okay) is that the Panny was reporting 480p on 298 and 1080i on other HD channels. Looked pretty good but not HD quality. Not sure what time it was, but later than that... maybe 7?

Shaw's implementaion of Centre Ice has been maddening.

They don't show a ton of games in HD that other carriers offer (anything on Leafs TV, Versus HD) and often they forget to "flip the switch" on the games they advertise in HD. Of course when you call they claim it's a problem with the source, even though a quick check on these forums show BEV and Rogers subscribers are getting the games just fine.

I finally lost it after a couple of months and went off on a poor CSR...he admitted things have been done sloppily and hopefully they'll have the kinks worked out for next year.
