I wanted to purchse another SA 8300 PVR for myself, but, since their no longer available I was wondering if could use an SA 8300HD PVR and still be able to record and view my sd channels?
Thanks in advance, Timberland29 |

Of course. You'll also be able to record and view the HD channels.
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=17706 If you've got an SDTV, you can use one of the SD connections, like S-video or composite. The advantages of the HD include: - A larger HDD - 160 vs 80 GB, plus it has SATA for further expansion - You can tune the HD channels (even if you have an SDTV - watch in SD Widescreen with excellent PQ) - The HD channels have DD5.1 (if you have an AVR with DD5.1 speakers) What's available in DD5.1 - future proofing (You may have an HDTV sooner than you think).

Plus the Closed Captions on the HD channels is much nicer (smaller, thinner font with no black background that takes up a quarter of your screen).
