Absolutely... This is something that was brought by a number of folks here when the 90k Wally numbers came out. The PS3 will sell better this year than it did last year with the lower price, greater availability, Wii shortages and MUCH improved game library. Toshiba is going to have to sell a lot of players to keep up, that's a given...

4. Ratatouille
5. Hairspray
6. Ocean's Thirteen
7. Santa Clause 3
8. 300
9. Die Hard Collection
10. Planet Earth

For HD DVD

1. Shrek The Third
2. Transformers
3. Planet Earth
4. Ocean's Thirteen

Interesting that Star Trek couldn't even beat out titles that had been released in previous weeks and was #5 in HD-DVD.

Well, it is a 130USD purchase for a tv show that's 40 years old.

I believe all NPD data are volume related and not dollar related.

What is Open Season?

Open Season is an animated movie about a tame/domesticated bear and an outcast deer thrust into the wilderness together...

I enjoyed it.

To be honest, look at the BR titles out there, some really kick ass titles which is why I went neutral and loving it, I have had my PS3 for 2 weeks now and already own about 10 titles on BR and looks like a lot more to come over the next few weeks. Mind you, there are some HD titles I will be picking up as well such as Bourne.

I understand the pricetag of ST and that making it harder but some people on this board thought it would be a top seller maybe even be enough to give HD-DVD a sales lead for the week. That didn't come close to happening.

I'm curious to see the sales figures for it, especially the dollar sales.

Oh yes, Open Season. I remember now. I watched this on a plane coming back from the Caribbean. Never knew it was out on BD and it's number 2? WOW. Not sure how that happened.

The revenue number on it will be interesting yes but the profit part on it can't be 21x a regular title release.

I think I was reading that the estimate for Live Free or Die Hard is around 100,000 sold so the rest of the volumes should be able to be approximated from that when we get the ratios in HMM later.

I see Neilsen has published the numbers.

Nielsen/VideoScan Numbers ending November 25th:

WE: BD-73% HDD-27%
YTD: BD-65% HDD-35%
SI: BD-61% HDD-39%

Cheers.

I see Since Inception moved up by 1 more to 62:38. That means the volumes were relatively decent.

Star Trek sold about 6500 copies it seems based on Live Free selling 100,000.

From what I've read elsewhere, Besbuy or another retailer was giving it away free with the purchase of a PS3.

Yep similar to other deals where you could pick out HD-DVD's to go with your player (not the ones included in the box). If the Walmart PS3 + 10 movie sale would have been at a store other than walmart all of those discs would have counted as well since they get run through the cash register separately. There have been deals like that for both sides.
