I have ordered this pre-amp to replace my Outlaw 950 mainly for the surround and hdmi capabilities.
They say it will arrive in 3 weeks, I will believe that when I see the box! Does anybody have this unit and can impart their impressions? http://integrahometheater.com/model....=Separates&p=f

How much can you get those for, it looks like a serious piece of hardware.
Thanks

The Integra 9.8 is retailing for $1599 US. of course I am not allowed to quote actual prices in this part of the forum but suffice it to say I paid more to have local warranty support.

So I've recently started doing some research on pre-amps and both this Integra DTC-9.8 and the Onkyo PR-SC885P which is essentially the same thing with a different look(and some minor other differences).
The problem I'm having is that there doesn't seem to any Integra dealers in Manitoba anymore? I've checked via Integra's website and that's what it says anyhow. As well, from what I've read, the 885 is not available to Canadian dealers. Any suggestions here? I've heard that both units are in pretty short supply and although I'm not ready for it yet right now, that because of the length of time in shipping that I'd be better off ordering one sooner than later. |

No word yet on the Integra from my Halifax supplier.
I also put my name on the waiting list at some American sites... Integra or Onkyo preamp. http://www.troxell.com http://www.proacousticsusa.com/Produ...0807141354.jpg http://www.proaudiosolutions.com/

The Integra was taking to long to arrive from my local dealer and Pro audio solutions phoned to say I could have the Onkyo PR-SC885, so I pulled the trigger and 6 days later I have a box.
Have to wait till Saturday as the Room is not ready yet. I will post my impressions post haste! PS. saved almost $300.00 going this route.

Hey BC-HD - nice job. Hope you never have a problem with it though - warranty is void in Canada. It's how the manufacturers protect Canadian retailers. Good news though is if there is something wrong with it - you should find out pretty much right away - in which case I would imagine Prosolutions would just send you out a new unit.
I'm partial to the Integra right now myself - that or possibly Emotiva. Unless of course there is crazy boxing day sale or something |

BC-HD, too bad Outlaw Audio is taking so long coming out with a replacement for the 990 prepro. I here it will have hdmi switching, but it won't arrive until spring or so. If I was in the market for separates, they'd be on my short list.

I agree with you runnin' I would have preferred to stay with Outlaw but they are usually behind the electronic curve in order to provide the lower pricing.
You may want to read my post regarding the Onkyo pre-pro and the fact that for 2 channel music the 950 is still better.

I got one from a dealer in Woodbridge for much less then the Canadian MRSP as a replacement for my Parasound AVC2500u. Still playing with the unit. So far I like it a lot.

Hey burtine
I have had my 885 for a month now and am still playing with all the audio settings. I performed a 5 position Audyssey equalization in my room but found that the sound quality degraded substantially, I am wondering if my coffered ceiling is throwing the calculations off. Maybe you could try it and post your impressions. Bob

I performed a 3 position Audyssey. It found all speaker distances dead on
and set all my speakers to the full. I use Paradigm Studio V.3 speakers all around (60, CC-570, ADP-470, Seismic 12 sub). I changed the setting to 40 Hz for all speakers. I did not have much time to do any critical listening but I like the result. Eugene |

I was able to get the Integra 9.8 about A month ago,to replace my Pioneer vsx-1015 used as my pre-amp, from a dealer in Regina Sask. I also ran the Audessey set up. The speaker measurement was bang on for my 5.1 set-up. The speaker level was out a touch, to loud with the test tone and my spl meter(only about 1.5-2db).I set the speaker crossover at 80hz on all. I use my PS3 to play Blu-Ray movies with lossless audio and SACD. This unit sounds awesome. Way more output voltage than the Pioneer to feed the amp. My speakers never sounded better. We watched Cars in blu-ray the other night and the sound clarity has never been better. For thoes that have seen the movie, when they went out tractor tippin and Frank came through the hedge nearly shook me off my seat. SACD sound great, the PS3 only plays back at 176.4khz the 9.8 will play all the way to 192khz. Money for nothing by Dire Straits has never sounded better. I am very happy with this pre-pro and figure there isnt any better bang for your buck near it.
