Default Is my plasma dying?

I own a Panasonic 42px60u. Had it since February, love it, no problems until now.

Last night I was watching Comedy channel and the screen strained a bit giving me some green lines at the bottom of the screen along with static noise. It happened today as well. Only momentary, probably about three seconds total but very noitceable. It seemd like a power shortage or something like an electrical shock to the TV.

I played my DVR back and it's recorded that way. I'm wondering if this is more likley a Shaw situation, or perhaps a sign that there's something wrong with my beloved Panny.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I'm using Shaw's 6416 PVR with HDMI.

jfplay:

If your PVR recorded the "incident" and it played back the same way, and you have not encountered it since, then I doubt very much that the problem is with your plasma display.

It's more likely that you encountered a hiccup in your cable signal that was captured in your PVR and your plasma display in turn showed the digital hiccup.

My suggestion is to do a cold reboot of your PVR (turn off, unplug, wait at least 15 seconds, replug and turn on) in case it's software got a little scrambled by the hiccup.

But fundamentally there is no issue with your plasma display.

How could something that you have recorded on your PVR have anything to do with the display?

That's what I thought too, but it's not like any audio or video dropout I've seen.

I didn't record it per se, but just rewound the program I was watching.

I'll reboot my PVR and reconnect my HDMI cable and hopefully that'll be the last of it.

Pausing live TV is still recorded to the HDD. If you rewound it and saw the same thing, then it was an issue with the signal, or a glitch in the recording to the HDD.

By way of further clarification, the PVR does not record what has happened on the TV, rather the TV displays what has happened on the PVR. The video signal comes into the house, goes through the PVR and ends up on the TV.

lmao! If the DVR recoreded it, it's obvious it was a problem with the signal, come on!

Some people don't understand how all this works. That's why I provided the clarification in post 6. There are lots of people who believe that the PVR or VCR, or DVD recorder records what's on the screen.

All you need to do is read the many posts that say "I connected my TV to my PVR" or "I connected my AVR to my STB" (which are "backwards" but indicate a faulty thought process about how things work).

He also stated

...which again indicates that he didn't understand that it was recorded onto the HDD. (I have no idea where he thought the rewound programme was, but I digress)

Each of us have our areas of expertise.
