Default JVC RS1 and RS2 Canadian and US MSRP?

Anybody know what the latest MSRP's are for the JVC RS1 and RS2 in Canada? How does it compare with the MSRP for our American cousins?

I didn't see any discussions to any retailers or pricing in Canada in the deals forum. If there is one, throw me a link. Otherwise, perhaps I'll ask myself in the deals forum.

Greetings

At CEDIA, the JVC people were not saying what the SRP would be for the RS2. They said it would depend on where the competition priced their TVs. Very competitive, this market is ... hmmmmm

The Canadian SRP for the RS1 is around $6500

Regards

Thumbs up

Hi all, not to thread hi-jack but according to PJ central, the new Sanyo Z-2000 just kicked the RS1 in the teeth and for $2195 after rebate in the US!!!! OUCH

Quote:In terms of image sharpness and clarity with high definition sources, the Z2000 and AE2000 are virtually identical, which is to say they are both outstanding. Both of them exceed the clarity of images we get from any other 1080p models we have been reviewing, including the JVC RS1.

I highly doubt that the Sanyo kicked the RS1 in the teeth, unless you're talking about per dollar. Yes, the Sanyo is good for the money, but from what I'm reading, the Sanyo is good, while the Panasonic is similar, possibley better, and the Sony Black Pearl is better than both.... so if anything is going to compete with the RS1 it's the Black Pearl. I take Projector Central reviews with a shaker of salt.

I was referring to price vs performance, $2500 vs $6500...considering these two PJ's are considered to be very close in performance...I would call that a kick in the gonads.

Anyway, its all good, just means cheaper and better PJ's for all!

The problem with Projector Central is the FACT that there is no reference to any technical information that you can sink your teeth into. What equipment was used. What test was used and with what referenced gear to put some context or meat into any statement that is made. If I take something seriously I want to know exactly how it was tested. The tests that seem to be used are generated from a sample free disk HQV say.. It would make sense if I was using say a Toshiba XA2 HD DVD player that uses that same manufacturers processor that the test disk video test will score higher on that player than say a BluRay player with a Gennum chip in it. Whereas if you used the Gennum companies sample disk the BluRay player would test look better. Patently ridiculous statements are made on projector central where if you are going to make a statement about sharpness it can be quantified. The RS1 measured on my instrument 16230:1 without a dynamic iris. The grey scale was near perfect out of the box. One can take any product review with a grain of salt at the best of times. When there is absolute absense of any detail other than a free HQV video disk with a few video shots in it and the person doesnt even invest in some of the known patterns say that are used to test sharpness I generally give little credence to the review. When you are looking at video gear it is best to see it with your own eyes. Don't let others make decisions for you.

I agree 100%...but when all the reviewers are giving certain PJ's top marks i.e. panny AE 100, 1000, 2000 , Sanyo Z5 etc...I believe what I read. I am certain that the RS1 is one hell of a PJ and darn well should be, my point was the diminishing returns factor, for most folks a $6500 PJ is not an option, but a really top notch PJ for $2500 with a 3 year warranty that rivals a $6500 unit, well that is something that is fantastic for consumers of all display devices.

If i had the coin I would have a $10,000 PJ but alas I have kids at Uni
