Hey.
I just bought a new 42" TV, and as part of buying it Future Shop and Rogers gave us the 8 Months free of HD programming, But I only have the 16 free channels that you get with buying/renting the box. Am I not supposed to get more. ??? (TSNHD,A&EHD,HDNET,etc.) |

Nope, I think it's an extra $6.95 and you'll get the West HD feeds of CBS, ABC, FOX, and NBC, as well as TSN, A&E, Net, and maybe a few others.
Also, I think it used to be a year for the regular HD box, and 10 months for an HDPVR. They must of changed it. |

It's 7.95/mo for the HD Pack. Sometimes people get these as a free preview, sometimes not. Check with a CSR. It may also depend on what other package you have. For example, you need to have the equivalent SD channels to get the HD ones - see the link above.

We got that too with our new Sharp. You only get the free 16 HD channels with the free 8 months. You'll have to check Rogers website for adding on other channels for a price.
I see you live in the same city as I. If you just want to find the 16 channels, go to 500 and channel surf. What you can view will pop up. on 501 this weekend The Movie Network is having a free preview from Friday night to Sunday. forgot, if you order TMN this weekend during their free preview you can get it for $9.99 a month for 6 months. Hey guys,
I got a 32" Samsung for a wedding gift and it came with the Rogers HD Starter Kit with 8 months of free HD. Did you guys provide Rogers with a copy of your receipt, apparently if you don't have a receipt they will charge $50 to your bill...I don't have the receipt though, any suggestions???

Ok, so I called Rogers and asked them about how many channels/prices etc, you get with the Free Preview and its only the 16 free ones, but you can get a 3 or 4 month preview of the extra $7.95 package.

Trad,
The only way to use that starter kit is to send in a copy of the receipt (sent in within 30 days of signing up for the free HD). Is it possible to ask who gave you the tv? Maybe they didn't know you needed the receipt? |

Angela,
I do know who gave me the receipt, the issue I have is that they have since tossed it.

Trad - When I was spoke to the Rogers rep on Friday evening he told me to send in the receipt etc within one month or they MAY charge the $50. I noted he said MAY and he said he had never seen anyone charged with the fee nor (and probably more to the point) had he ever received a complaint with regards to someone being charged the fee later.
I would just send in what you have. If they ever come back and ask for the $50 just tell them the truth about not having the receipt as it was a wedding gift. |

Not sure if you know this.
But I called Rogers and it turns out it is now the HD box is free for 12 months, and the PVR box is free for 6 months.

The free time period changes all the time. The free time for the PVR has been as short as 3 months and as long as a year. The STB has always been close to a year, but even that can change.
