Just got my copy of Transformers (2 disc DVD) this afternoon and just finished watching it. PQ and SQ are top notch. Very impressive low frequency, and awesome use of the surround channels. The movie itself is what it is.........a Michael Bay summer popcorn flick. Just leave your brain at the door. I think alot of people will run out and get this DVD. Will watch the 2nd disc of supplemental stuff tomorrow and let you know how it is.

If you know a video store owner/manager like I am kucky enough to, I often get those can't wait titles on the Wed or Thurs before release. I picked up my HD DVD copy of "300" five days before release
I'm hoping I will get Transformers on HD DVD today...fingers crossed, although no reviewers have it yet and they seem to be keeping a very tight reign on the HD DVD versions early release/leaks...stay tuned folks.

Does anyone know if the HD-DVD version of transformers will have both the HD-DVD format and the standard dvd format on the same disc, same is how it was on the 300 HD-DVD??
thanks |

No Transformers is not an HD-DVD/DVD combo disc - it is just an HD-DVD.

In regards to the combo discs:

I thought the picture was quality was awful on this disc. I don't know if it was deliberate to add grain to the movie but it just looks awful. I was hoping for a pin sharp, crystal clear picture but it's all over the place.

Actually I still remember PQ from Cineplex wasn't great either, so consider that, HD DVD was awesome, both PQ and audio track. Highly recommended
