Default NHL in HD: RDS vs CBC

Hey guys,

Can anyone give a review of RDS vs CBC for NHL games in HD ?

Any difference in quality ?

I'm with Videotron, would it be the same for both (i.e. compression from Videotron the same for all HD channels) ?

In theory, the OTA DT feed from CBC should be superior right ?

I watched ± 30 minutes of the Habs game on RDS HD last night and from a normal viwing distance, it was AMAZING !

GO HABS GO !

CBC-HD has two sets of HD gear: the main one that is tethered to the Leafs team bus, and the mobile set they use for (mostly) the late game on HNIC. In my opinion the mobile unit is nowhere near as good as the other one.

I have not yet seen RDS-HD (if it's not covered under Rogers VIP plan then I likely won't), but if you go about comparing RDS-HD and CBC-HD just remember: if it ain't a Leafs game, it will probably be not as good.

Picture wise both RDS & CBC hockey last night were very good. The RDS broadcast had their cameras a little farther from the ice with a small infobug at the top. CBC had a huge bug crossing almost all the screen. Since their camera were closer, the action is somewhat impaired by the bug. IMHO the RDS method is preferable.

In my opinion, the RDS feed looked better to me. CBC's is good, but I just found the colors a bit more vibrant and the details a bit more sharp on the RDS feed.

Just as a note, I find the TSN HD hockey coverage better than CBC's as well. I'm on Expressvu.

Are you trying to compare RDS to TSN?? CBC didn't do any hockey games last night...

I watched the alds redsox-angels game on both sn and rds last night and the rds was definately more vibrant. I watched on bev, so I'm guessing it was a transponder space thing. Any thoughts?
