Thumbs down

Zero. Zip. None. And it will stay that way until the 'format war' is over and probably a lot longer than that. I didn't see that option in the poll. (i.e. 0, 0)

The 0-0 option no longer exists because the poll has a limit of only 24 choices and one had to be dropped.

Earlier polls had 25 options.

"How many HD movies do you own?" ... so that's titles, not discs obviously (aka "Dreamgirls" is 1, not 2). But is this "movies" exclusively? Do we not count BBC Planet Earth (4 discs) or Heroes, Season 1 (7 discs) at all? or as 1 each?

I'd be inclined to count "titles" where each "box" is 1 -- so all of the above examples count, and each counts as 1. And, of course, most of these will be "movies" but not everything will be.

So, yes, 1 title (regardless of discs) = 1 "count". Having voted that way, I will note here that Dreamgirls, Complete Matrix, BBC Planet Earth and Heroes, Season 1 would otherwise drive the "disc investment" considerably higher -- 12 higher in fact.

Not easily captured in such a vote: the sheer pleasure I got out of most of the titles which is incremental to what I would have enjoyed had all these been SD only releases. An excellent example: BBC Planet Earth. HiDef viewing lifts this way beyond what it would otherwise be in SD. The imagery is so compelling that it easily counts for half of the "content".

HD count is 15, unless you count Heroes 7 discs seperately.
And BD, I have 9 currently, but expecting 3 more in the mail next week.

Ditto. My money will not go in that pool until the format war settles in some way.

well I would count Heroes and Planet earth as 1 title but I think the complete matrix and something like the Mission impossible boxset do indeed count as 3 movies each. especially since the mission impossibles are now available as 3 but you just got them in one shot.

unless you really just want to count purchases. But then that would mean if you bought a set of 2 HD DVDs that your loccal store bundle together in shrink wrap to give a "double feature" special then that would be one also?

just a thought.
