Default Michael Vick has found Jesus and is sorry

He said that he was "disappointed in myself" and that "dogfighting is a terrible thing and I ... reject it."

Quote:
"Through this situation I've found Jesus," he added. He vowed to redeem himself, saying, "I have to.
He seems genuinely apologetic and he has become a religious man.

I say drop the jail time, NFL suspension etc and let the guy move on!

In legal papers filed last week, Vick admitted financing a dogfighting operation and participating in the killing of dogs that did not fight well.
Jesus or no Jesus, dude deserves all the "down time" he gets to "think about my actions".

In the second world war, they said there were no atheists in fox holes. Sounds like the same holds true for Mister Vick. Bar him for 15 years and we'll see if he has held to his new convictions.

As the people he hired to try to salvage his image want.

The only way that he can take responsibility for his actions is to take responsibility for the consequences of his actions, and that's got to include jail time and suspension from the NFL.

Maybe Mr. Vick will spend some prison time in the "general population" where it really is dog eat dog.
His new friend will be a comfort to him there.

I think he found Jesus to help him find the multi million dollar contract he is now without. And to get back a contract like that I think I could find Jesus also.

What's interesting to me is what he didn't say. He didn't say "I have found faith," or "I have found strength from God through this," or something similar. Instead he appealed directly to Jesus who's been harnessed by vegetarians, socialists, moralists, radicalists/fundamentalists, liberals, etc. I guess if he wanted to sound popular about a faith decision, it's best to mention Jesus as opposed to such boring things as God/faith/spirituality, etc. Poor Jesus though; he does gets blamed for so much.

Obviously the guy got bad advice on his claim of finding Jesus. To properly manipulate the media outlets to give simpathetic coverage he should have "found" Mohammad.

First off, I'm a dog lover. Always was, always will be...

But does anyone else think the outrage over this is amplified by the fact that it involves cruelty to dogs? Most of us have no problem sleeping at night knowing millions of cows and chickens are being slaughtered and butchered. But then again, they ain't so cute. (And they taste much better, too.)

We think nothing of squashing an insect, but look sideways at a dog (or cat) and the whole world goes ballistic. Some people march into the woods with rifles to hunt down, shoot, and gut poor defenseless animals, and we go about our merry business. Do horses and greyhounds enjoy racing for our amusement? Are zoo animals content to be sitting around in cages to be gawked at and turned into spectacles? Cruelty is all in how you look at it.

I know, I know -- dogs are our friends and offer us much more in terms of attachment and affection. But some folks don't go to jail for doing worse things to other people. Is Vick a scumbag? Sure, he's a stupid idiot. But he's been vilified worse than a freakin' serial killer or rapist.
