That article is over 3 months old. Its likely to do with the fact that it is a simultaneous launch on both systems......

It could be your first PS3 game, but then you miss out on the additional content for the 360 version.

That's an old article from May. GTA IV has been officially delayed until 2008 for all platforms. This in my mind changes the console wars battle this holiday season by quite a bit ...
Article as of August 2nd : http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=17021

Since all the live demos of GTA IV at E3 were on the 360, some people are speculating that it's now the PS3 that is holding it up ... but I wouldn't read into it.

Don't forget to mention at an additional cost.

Like the most recent Gears of War maps that Epic wanted to give away but MS wouldn't allow them to?

Yes, but at least 360 owners are given the option to purchase or not.

going to marketplace on XBL is free, as well as dl'ing demos and the free maps etc on some games. it's the online ~gaming~ part you have to pay for. if you don't do online gaming, you're subsidized by those that do.

And I appreciate the subsidy!

I forgot about the extra content that the 360 users will be able to download later. That could be a pretty big factor for getting the 360 version, but of course it depends on the quality of the content. If it's like Liberty City/Vice City Stories, then it's not something I'd lose sleep over.

I really only care which system the game looks/sounds/plays better on. If all things are equal, I'll get the 360 version. Just like M$ wants.

It is episodic. That means it will not be free. I am only clarifying it so that it is not misunderstood as extra game content for the same price on both platforms. PS3 won't have this content available to it, but it's not a part of the original purchase price on the 360 either.

Well the PS3 version will just most likely come with some of this extra content already on the disk with the game and it's just a way of getting around the no hard drive/dvd limitations of the 360.

Microsoft should really change their minds and allow people to develop with a hard drive as a listed requirement. Honestly how many people don't have one? And those who don't can easily buy one.
