Is a website-based radio program viable?
Here's the promo: RAFE'S BACK! Starting September 4 Rafe Mair can be heard on www.rafelive.com Tuesday Thursday and Saturday mornings from 10:00. until 11:00 starting with the patented Rafe Mair editorial, with talkback by phone and by email ... plus guests. If there is support, the program will be Monday through Friday, same time and place. At this point, we are building the website www.rafelive.com so keep your eyes peeled. This would be an excellent time to make sure your computer is set up correctly. The government and establishment are about to have their tootsies warmed up again SO PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO THOSE IN YOUR ADDRESS FILE. RAFE'S BACK ... LET'S MAKE SURE HE STAYS BACK |

I remember a few years back that Dan Russell tried it before he was re hired.
I think it has a lot of potential and can reach a large audience but I am not sure what the main demographic is for him and do they have internet connection? If they are at work will they be SOL? I hope it lasts as it has been far too long without him and I am so sick of the so called talk at cknw. I actually listen to Air America a lot over the net and will listen to Raife. I wonder if he will try to get his new show on Satellite Radio? |

I agree with you no1, regarding the talk shows on NW. Now it seems we will be losing Adler in the afternoon for a new show with Christie Clark.
I've pretty much given up on Bill in the morning. I've taken to tuning in Rutherford from Calgary during that time period so it looks like I will be tuning in CJOB for the afternoon. Time to look for a real internet radio..... |

Glad to hear Rafe is returning! However, he turned a lot of people off when he spent too much time, in their opinion, talking about (1) his bouts with depression, (2) the sea lice problem, and (3) his recorded memoirs of his trips to the U.K. and Ireland.
Personally, I think he did a lot of good with his passionate feelings for the environment especially the protection of our West Coast salmon. He highlighted the problems of the open pen method of rearing Atlantic salmon and the harm it caused to the environment! |

Sea lice and open pens go hand in hand. Too bad there isnt more knowlegable folks like Rafe that are not afraid to voice there concerns. 'NW was my staple for years, it might as well not exist now.
