HDCP w/ SA8300 & KF-42WE620
I wanted to share my experience with other board members RE: HDCP issues and Rogers current software release.
According to Rogers, who only began supporting the HDMI interface of their 8300HD STBs 2 months ago, my HDTV (KF-42WE620) has been added to their "requires HDCP software work-around" list. Vendors (Sony, Phillips, Panasonic, Samsung, etc.) have been working with Rogers to modify their software.
Notably, whether you go from a HDMI cable into a DVI port w/ an HDMI->DVI adapter, or vice versa, the net affect is the same. You'll be fighting the issue until "they figure it out".
Interestingly enough, w/ the HDCP dialogue box on the screen, the receiver shows through it's info pages, that HDCP handshaking was sucessful. This is even AFTER I've turned my HDTV on first (power-on sequence).
I'm just hoping I can continue to work around the issue until either A) my next HDTV, or B) they fix their software.
