Default UFC on HD

I've been after Rogers (and hence Viewers Choice, Rogers PPV provider) about showing the (pricey) UFC PPV events in HD. Zuffa has been providing the feed in HD since the beginning of this year, but Rogers has continually had porn on the HD PPV channels and the UFC events on the SD PPV channels.

I called Viewers Choice 2-3 times over that period and talked to the same CSR each time. Each time he gave me the line that it is difficult to do a live HD PPV event and that they had to coordinate technical upgrades among many clients, etc. I figured this was all BS, but was willing to give them the benfit of the doubt. However, my patience has worn thin and I've only purchased 2 of the last three events as I wait for these "difficulties" to be worked out. He told me back in April that it should be available in HD in July, but obviously the opportuity has come and gone (Saturday).

So it's been 6 months since Zuffa announced to the public (in the December 28 show) that they were broadcasting the next showa in HD, and I'm sure they notified its clients long before that. I've finally concluded he was giving me a load of BS and that there is rather a $$$$ issue behind why they show the porn on HD and UFC on SD (Zuffa is oprobably trying to extort too much for the HD feed.)

I'm with ya dude - I'm so sick of watching UFC in SD on my plasma that I've started downloading the higher rez versions of the fights off of newsgroups the next morning... I refuse to purchase any more until they carry the HD feed...

I don't know how it's done, but apparently BEV has gained exclusive rights to HD-UFC. I thought it was all Viewer's Choice, but there seems to be a difference.

I'm sorry I can't find the thread I read that.

No BDU, including Rogers, is under any obligation to broadcast the UFC or any other PPV broadcast in SD or HD. The decision is based solely on whether they think they can make money on it.

If a production company makes it available then Rogers can decide whether to offer it or not.

Finally, I have moved your thread and edited your title. Titles calling folks liars without hard facts to back it up will result in your thread being deleted.
