Question Rogers wonderful world of discounts

just wondering if anyone else has/had this going on with their bill.

as usual i took the time to review my bill bit by bit to make sure everything was in order. it was refreshing to have a simpler bill this month as the last month reflected some changes, which we all know results in a web of add and removes and drives you nuts trying to piece it all together.

so i'm reading over the cable portion of it and notice this one odd bit. my vip, better choice bundles and 4 month HD box discount are there, but near the top there is a "remove: discount" for an amount a little bit higher than the HD box discount. it was on the last bill too (thought slightly higher) but i was so lost in math that i couldn't figure it out.

i call them up and ask what it was about and the rep tells me straight up that she has no idea what it is and will credit my next bill.

anyone else ever have this nondescript discount reversal? i could see it if there were some major changes, but this bill was as everything should be.

Oh how I long for the days when I only had basic analogue. The bill was EXACTLY the same each month. Now, it appears to be an accountant's nightmare.

I believe all the adds and removes are Roger's attempt at being transparent with their billing. But instead of making it simpler to understand, it makes it more confusing. I think Roger's need to add more explanations to the bill in order for people to understand it.

as difficult as they are, i do agree that the adds and removes are to show what exactly was done. in this case though, nothing had been changed that would involve adds or remove.

i should correct myself. it actually said "reversal:discount". my beef is that it doesn't indicate what discount it was reversing. it doesn't even match any of the actual discounts. it's like they are saying, ok we'll give you a 25% discount on your HD box rental, but we're going to take that back and tack on an extra 5%.

Rogers bills are always mystery to me even they've tried to explain in the mail. Why don't they make simpler? I have bundle discount 15%, they charge me $58.91 in cable service but the 15% discount is only $3.59 (equal 6%). I called them once, they credited me one month then going back the same. I just gave up!

that's annoying dean. the whole point of the BCB discount is to be rewarded for using multiple rogers services, and yet they are still screwing you over on it. another good example of my point. missing a discount is one thing, but blatantly on paper (or online like i use) under calculating or just taking back a discount is insulting.

I have bundle discount 15%
The 15% discount applies to non-promotional pricing. If you have any "promotional" pricing in your package, then the 15% only applies to the non-promotional portion.

For example, the pricing for Digital VIP may be $60, but if you're getting it for $50, then you don't get the bundle discount. Or if the regular price is $60 and you get a $55 price, then you should have $9 off the $60, which they would "make up" with an additional $4 off.

These are just examples which may explain the way the discount is applied.

Default rogers

I hate rogers now, before i like them of the tv programing and equipment, but now i really sad the rate, even they gave me discount , we've been using rogers for 12 years now

we have vip plus+movies, FAIRCHILD, TALNTVISON, GREAT WALL, ATVHOME
cost us around $150 something

plus HD free trail until october, so after october included the box and programing will be around $170 roughly

that's under discount rate until in 2008

internet= express $41.95

cellphone family plan$59.00 something

total bill at this moment is $225

after all promotion finish will be more then $300

i hate the rogers now, the price so damn high and not many choices of pay tv in canada or ontario

in hong kong even is a small place, there's are 4 pay tv companies such as hong kong cable tv, tvb payvision, nowboardband, and the other one forgot the name

that's why they have lots of good competition in hong kong for the internet, cellphone and tv section

i hope crtc could open more companies in canada to have pay tv service in the future

just very upsad with rogers, if i swithc tv to bell will be pictures quaility not good in a bad weather sisuation, all of us should write to rogers to complain the price

or they should have some specal combo package for the ethic group

for example basic + all chinese channels = $50 per months

something like that to help customers save money

anyway what's are u guys opinion about the company charging and billing

Well, they are certainly in it for the money. But I'm in the let them charge what the market will pay. If people are willing to cough up $150 a month for Cable TV, then all the power to Rogers - I'll have to buy more shares. But if everyone feels that this is too high, the price will drop. Personally I'm at $100 or so ... but I really should buy that PVR, and drop TMM. With the Sopranos gone, perhaps I really don't need TMN.

Almost can guarantee you that you must have a PVR or HD promo on top of your VIP. Because the VIP discount puts an amount towards your DSTB they reversed that amount.

i do have a discount on my HD box for about one more month. if that's the case, then why is the reversed discount more than the 25% off?

I'd have to see your bill to see exactly what the reversal is stemming from and what is getting reversed, but if both a promo and the vip promo are combined it causes them to conflict.

as i mentioned in my first post, i did and she had no idea what it was and removed it. i know it will be there again on the next bill. it's really not a huge deal. i just wonder why they don't be more specific.
