Could someone give me instructions on how to hookup my Wii to work on my projector. Equipment is as follows. Sanyo Z5, Denon AVR 1507 and a shaw motorola hdtv cable box (dct 6200 i believe. my output for my wii is a yellow, red and white. Where do i plug this into optimally. Then how do i switch that device to display the wii and not the tv. Please feel free to dumb your answer down as I nowhere near an expert on hookups.

Hook up your wii by connecting the yellow directly into the composite video input of the Z5. Connect the red and white to your stereo. Then press video on your Z5 remote when you want to play the wii, and press HDMI or component for your 6200. You'll have to switch the stereo over as well. I don't like going through a stereo because sometimes the signal gets degraded. You can try going through the stereo to see if there is any difference, but I prefer the direct route for best possible picture. I have the Z4. How do you like your Z5 so far?

Here is the simplest way of connecting your system:
1. Connect Cable Box Component video output ====> Denon AVR-1507 Component video input 2. Connect Cable Box Optical audio output ====> Denon AVR-1507 Optical audio input 3. Connect Nintendo Wii Yellow RCA video output ====> Denon AVR-1507 Yellow RCA video input 4. Connect Nintendo Wii Red/White RCA audio output ====> Denon AVR-1507 Red/White RCA audio input 5. Connect Denon AVR-1507 Component video output ====> Sanyo Z5 Component video input You can now use the Denon AVR-1507 remote control to switch between the Cable Box and Nintendo Wii. I highly recommend purchasing a Universal Remote such as a Logitech Harmony in order to simplify this process. For instance, you can program a button "Watch TV" or "Play Nintendo" which will turn on the correct equipment and switch to the correct inputs. |

I would highly reccomend buying the Wii Component Cable. I have seen it for as little as $29 at FS/BB. The quality of the picture from the Wii is definately worth it.
That will also remove the need to switch inputs on your Z5 when you swith to/from cable, as they both use component. The only possible drawback is some TVs/projectors do not automatically switch to wide screen when using the Wii. You may need to change the aspect of your Z5 manually when you switch to the Wii. You would plug the R/G/B connectors from the Wii component cable to the Comp-2 connector (instead of the yellow one) on the back of the Denon. Then you will need to assign the Comp-2 connector to the correct input on the Denon as you have done with the cable box. Post a reply if you have problems with this, as it can be a bit tricky. I have done it a few times on my dad's 1506 and may be able to help.

I think you have it connected correctly, but you may need to make some changes in the Denon's Sytem Setup.
Are the component inputs on the back of the Denon labeled Comp-1, Comp-2, etc or are they labeled TV/DBS, DVD, etc? I went to the Denon website and the picture of the back of the amp shows them labeled as (Comp-1, Comp-2, etc) and the User Manual is labeled the as (TV/DBS, DVD, etc). Unfortunately, that means the downloadable manual does not have the Comp-1,2,3 assignment procedure in it. If they are labeled Comp-1 etc, then look in the manual for the "System Setup" section. In there, they should describe how to "assign" the "Comp-1" component input to "TV/DBS". The basic procedure is something like this (check your printed manual for accurate instruction. Sorry): On the front of the Denon. 1. Push System Setup 2. Use Up/Down buttons until you see "Input Selection" 3. Push "Enter" 4. Use Up/Down buttons until you see "Component" 5. Push "Enter" 6. Use Up/Down buttons until you see "Comp-1" 7. Push "Enter" 8. Use Up/Down buttons until you see "TV/DBS" 9. Push System Setup until the menu goes away. This tells the Denon that when you switch the input selector on the front of the Denon to TV/DBS it uses the video signal from Comp-1 along with the audio from TV/DBS. I think the Wii is not working because you are not using component from the Wii to the Denon. The way you have it connected, you will need a second cable that goes from the Denon's video output (regular RCA, usually yellow, usualy labeled "Monitor Out") to the Z5's Video Input. It may be easier (and will certainly be better) to use the Wii Component Video Cable and use the above procedure to assign Comp-2 to Video-1 or V-Aux. Hope this helps.
