Could you guys get me up to speed on the Hitachi product line? I believe there is a base and premium line? When do they usually introduce new models and how can you tell what model year a set is?

I am no expert but from my purchase last year I learned a few things.

They have had 3 main models in the 16:9 arena

UWX Low end
SWX Mid range
XWX Top of the line with ATSC Tuner

There was also a gwx, twx which where just uwx, and swx with upgraded screens and cabinets.

The year before last the model was 10b, then last years model was 20b. Last years models came out in August - December. I bought my SWX20b in August. I beleive the XWX' were later in the year.

I am not aware of this years models but I have seen som F series models on there web site.

The "F500" series is replacing the "U" and there is supposed to be an "S500" replacing the "S", but it's not available yet - soon I hear. Haven't heard anything about an "X" replacement yet. The G500 should be the same as the F500, but with a "non-Glare" screen, hence the "G".

I saw that page and it confused the heck out of me! That's why I asked here. Does Future Shop sell all the models, or just certain lines?

I don't think they sell the G.

I've been in only one store that sells the G and if I recall correctly the salesperson said that Hitachi is selling the F in the big retailers and the G is targetted more to boutique retailers.

Apparently greater markup on the G.
