I've been watching HDTV via ExpressVu almost from the time they started broadcasting. I purchased a 47" Panasonic and originally has a 6000 receiver. I became fed up with the 6000 and switched to a 9200 almost 9 months ago. My old Panasonic has been aligned by a good ISF guy here in Ottawa. The set has been reliable but the lamps are starting to dim and, despite my best efforts, the menu box has started to burn into the screen. The set is also quite large compared to the LCD sets currently available, and I'm thinking it's time for a change.
My question: If it's going to be several years before there is any significant amount of 1080P broadcast content, is it worth it to buy a 1080P set now? I don't watch much in the way of DVD content, and I'm wondering whether the extra investment is worth it. Will I really notice a difference? Should I consider geting a good LCD set e.g. the earlier Sharp models or Sony's Wega? BTW, if I do decide to get a 1080P set it will probably be Sharp's 52" D92. Regards, Ron in Ottawa |

Have you cleaned the crt guns lately?
While you are researching your next tv, you could enjoy a brighter, sharper picture for a while longer. |

The following thread, although older, is quite relevant:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=36791 If you have the room and are not set on a flat panel, I'd suggest the Sony SXRDs (LCos).
