Toy Nut,
Do you have the name and contact information for the Calibrator you used through Trutone? As I understand it, Trutone in Mississauga uses an outside calibrator to do their work. He's not a Trutone employee per say, just someone that they arrange to do the work for them.

As well, what brand of plasma TV did you have calibrated? From what I've read on other forums, different calibrators seem to specialize in particular brands as they had tools better suited to some brands over others, and they're more familiar with the service menus of the brands they do most of their work on.

Let me know where you guys go, I heard true tone, any where else?

I know johnny does it but I believe his price is $500 (from NBT website). I'm sure his calibration is great, I just don't have that much to spend on it.

Thanks
Thought it was about the same price - but if I'm not mistaken the HDTV you mention is a rear projector and I believe that he has to align and calibrate the indivdual 'guns' so I am not sure if this is an extra charge - Mine is a plasma so this alignment was not necessary.

If you want his number, just e-mail me.

Regards,

Toy Nut

Sorry, I should have been clearer - I meant same price as what I paid...

My fee is currently $425 for a complete calibration. If you only want a sub-set of the complete job, the fee would obviously be less.

Default ISF Calibration on older Tv

Will a propper ISF calibration be worth the money on an older TV ?
I have a Panasonic 47" RP HD ready TV about 3.5 years old now. I was just wondering if the calibration would still have the WOW effect that I've heard it does on a new one.
About how much should I expect to pay to have one done ? And what all do they do ?

It's still worth it, even on a non-HD set, providing you did not have it in "torch mode" for years in which case the CRTs are probably hurting.

That would be the stompin' grounds of one Michael "TLV" Chen. PM him here ("Michael TLV") or email furrypig01@yahoo.com.

Default What Q's do I ask before I have my TV calibrated

There is only one company that is certified ISF in my city. According to imagingscience.com the company has the following equipment:

ISF Opitcal Comparator
Colour Analyzer

Are those two pieces of equipment are all that's needed?

I'm in mood to research the in's and out's of calibration. Just to damn lazy. But when I go talk to this company what should I ask? What would a full calibration entail for a direct-veiw 36 incher?

From the FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV" comes the following link about what an ISF technician does. Hope it's helpful.

57's link is a PDF! Sorry I hate PDF's they suck you into waiting for Adobe Reader to open...hmmdmmhmm.
