Default DCT Message Saying New Firmware Update?

Well, this morning I awoke to find the red light on on my DCT6412/2300 Phase III. The first thing I noticed is the box rebooted overnight, and when I went into the messages, there was a message saying new software was sent to SOME DCT models. Well, I thought great, my 6412 must be one of them since it rebooted overnight. I went to look at the software version, and it seems to be the same, with the 12.xx software and 73.xx firmware. What happened? It rebooted and I got a message but still the same software.

My 3080 reset this morning also - and no guide info. I have no clue what the software was before but its now 73.45 and firmware 12.35. Anyone know which models were affected - it said Guide and SOD client software..... what was updated?

lol

My 6208 and 6416 also were both reset this morning, but no change in SW versions.

My 700 and 6200 were both updated last night. It is now 74.24 - 4004. The only thing that it seems to have changed is the favorites; adding the ability to have multiple favorites lists. I can't access VOD now either.

I posted something regarding this already but exactly when I woke up this morning at 6am my DCT6412 reset so I turned on the TV and the only thing I noticed is the guide moved allot faster and the text seemed a tiny bit bigger but when I go home after work I want t take a look at what exactly was done. I'm not sure about my DCT 3080 I'll have to check that as well.

I'll have to check mine when I get home. It was mentioned in the other thread that the 64XX's were not getting an update at this time.

The update occurred ONLY on DCT700 and DCT2500s. See message #314 of this thread for details.

Updates for 2000 should probably follow, then 3080/5100/6200/6208/6412/6416s together.

I have the message light to say that they did some stuff for VOD and the Guide, nothing about software change, the software on my 2500 maybe changed to 74.24 - 4004 and 03.17 firmware. I wasn't sure what it used to be on the 2500. The 6416 is the same as always today.... 73.45 and 12.26.

Funny thing last night, in my bedroom I have a 2500 hooked to my Sony VCR via Video 1. I also have the cable split on the coax so it also feeds to the ANT input on the VCR, to record at the same time as watching something else. I have noticed some nights at like 2am what sounds like my VCR come to life and make the whine motor noise and then goes off before I wake enough to look. I figured it was the VCR and I never knew why. Its done it several times over the years. Of course last night it did it and I sat upright and noticed the VCR was on, the display changes from clock to the other stuff when its on, then it immediately went off, made the same VCR motor whiney noise for a couple seconds.
Of course this morning I find the red message LED lit on my 2500 and the 6416.
Anyone else notice VCRs flash to life for a couple seconds when Shaw does something? I assume its always been because of Shaw. How they do that to the VCR?
My bedroom VCR is never hardly used for recording, never at night since its annoying noise. Of course I use the 6416 in the living room for all the recording.

Your VCR is connected to the power outlet on the back of the 2500 isn't it? When the box power cycles it also cycles the power outlet.

Some people are just smarter than me
Why didn't I think of that. You were right, its plugged in the back of the 2500. It was soooo long ago that I hooked it up that I forgot.

LOL. Not smarter, just have mine set up the same way and just figured it out this morning when the VCR in the bedroom started making the same noises at 6:15 AM.

Now we finally know what time the Digital Messenger Fairy comes! (And he's pretty hot, too!)
