Maher Arar says he is honoured to be on the Time Magazine list as one of the world's 100 most influential people. In a statement issued through the Centre for Constitutional Rights, Arar expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his "struggle for justice."
Arar was deported by US authorities to Syria in 2002, where he was imprisoned and tortured. A Canadian Inquiry exonerated the Syrian-born Canadian citizen of any suspected terrorist involvement last year. Arar was awarded a $10.5-million compensation package in January. |

People that shape our world pole by Time Magazine.....Bush doesn't make the cut. No surprise there eh
http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/time100 Gets even worse for Bush http://thinkprogress.org/2007/05/03/...o-texas-signs/ It is a bit of a joke really, as you can tell that most of the votes must have come from teenagers and young people in general. Rain ( korean r&b band ) are #1, ahead of Bono ( last year's winner along with the gates ). I rest my case Last edited by jacksparrow; 2007-05-04 at 02:35 PM. |
