Back in December 2005, I purchased an ASTAR 27" for my bedroom from Best Buy during boxing day sale for just over $600.00 which at the time was a great price.
Picture quality and sound have been great. I recently started to have some problems, when I first turn on the TV the picture freezes, as soon as I change channels everything is fine. Once the TV is warm and I turn it off and on there are no problems. I did not take an extended warranty as the cost was almost as much as the TV. Best Buy purchased these sets in the USA and during the warranty period, 1 year I would have had to send it back to the U.S. In any case the TV is beyond the one year warranty period and I am wondering if anyone might know what the problem could be. I also need to know if there is a good service center in the Montreal area where I can bring the set to have it looked at. Perhaps it may not be worth fixing in which case I will just use it until it drops dead and then start over again. Thanks |

Well my problem with this set seems to have progressed to the point where I am having trouble turning on the TV for the first time in a day.
When I turn it on the power light comes on but the screen remains black. I have to turn the master power button on and off and then the TV turns on, the picture is then distorted but returns to normal once I change channels. Once the TV is warmed up it functions normal and can be turned on and off without any further problems. The most frustrating part is that when it finally works the picture and sound are perfect. Ok, I knew when I bought the set it was an offbrand and it might not last long but it is 16 months old. I guess i will head over to Best Buy and see if they can direct me to a service outlet. Surely there is someone out there that may have had this type of problem with an LCD TV or screen? Need help guys!!!! Thanks |
