Default HDNet channel to be added to Shaw soon?!

I think HDNet programming may be appearing on Shaw cable soon!

I was browsing the list of HD programs at the Titan website and in May 6th's program list for the HDNet network is a program called Shaw HDTV Test. It is repeated again May 11th.

These two offerings seem to correspond with a program listed as 30 minutes of HDNet Test Patterns in the HDNet program schedule (do a search on patterns).

Hmmm... HDNet is broadcasting test patterns which are listed as a Shaw HDTV Test at the Titan website... sounds pretty promising to me!

and Rogers been showing MLB Baseball demos with the HDNET logo for many months.

HDNET is great, trust me but the CRTC has to approve it first.

another post about HDNET in canada.

I was told by a source at Rogers last October that that Discovery HD Theater and HD Net are now slated for "first quarter 2003" in this thread.

The HDNET that comes to Canada would NOT be the sports channel rather it would be the general programming one.

Will it happen next month? doubtful, but from what I'm told it will happen soon. Let's keep our fingers cross, I mean Hogans Heroes in HD, yahoo!

At the presenet moment HDNET Sports doesn't exist anywhere. Sports programming is still on the original channel.

HDNET movies and the original HDNET exist. I would hate to lose the sports, unless that channel is also carried.

Doesn't the CRTC have to approve this channel ?

Hmmm, I wouldn't get too excited technut. I imagine this is what you're talking about:

HDNet Test Patterns
Wonder how your home theater is doing? Wish you had test patterns to help set it up? Well, HDNet is here to help. This short program will help you get the most out of your home theater set up by providing you with the same professional test patterns HDNet uses to set up their gear.
Apparently it runs pretty regularly on HDNet, usually in the middle of the night, but now they're scheduling it for more sane hours.

Given all the discussions here over recent months, and Shaw's glacial speed when it comes to anything innovative, they'd be the LAST company I'd ever expect to push for HDNet carriage.

That part doesn't surprise me. What caught my attention was finding the test patterns listed in the HDNet schedule as a Shaw HDTV Test on Titan's website.

I don't think Titan would have any reason to list those particular showings as being for Shaw unless they got that listing info from HDNet. I could be jumping to conclusions, but it sounds to me like those showings are coordinated with Shaw to test/verify signal quality. I still haven't heard anything definite to the contrary.

I guess Rogers has had some HDNet content before (from what others tell me) but I don't think Shaw has. Call me a dreamer, but I think this means we may start seeing some HDNet programs on Shaw.

I do see the logic that the CRTC would have to approve the addition of a HDNet channel, but perhaps Shaw will just include some HDNet on their HDTV demo channel? I'd be happy for any new source of HDTV content.
