There is a reset sequence in the operating manual for the remote. 6 flashes usually indicates a low battery though - change your batteries. See the following thread, post 5 for additional info:

If it blinks, it's not dead.

Wow, never knew it could be so difficult but here's the steps if you want to control the volume on your TV from the Rogers Remote.
1. Press TV on Rogers Remote. 2. Press and hold down the SETUP key until the TV key blinks twice. 3. Enter your TV Code (Mine was a Sony Bravia so I used 0810). Your TV key should blink twice if the code was entered correctly. 4. Press the PWR key on the Rogers Remote (Your TV should go off). 5. Press the CABLE key on the Rogers remote. This is what should work from the Rogers Remote: 1. Channel Selection. 2. Sound Volume control. 3. GUIDE and INFO buttons. I have the Atlas DVR/PVR 5 device and the User Guide sucks! I had to use an online search tool to find the TV code. |

I have a Samsung plasma TV, the PN42A450 and the Rogers HD PVR DT box. The only button I can't get my Rogers remote to control off the TV remote is the picture size. Its a nuisance to have one remote lying around for the sake of one function. I tried to manually program the button as instructed urcsupport.com but it doesn't work. Has anyone got this to work?
Thanks |

IF the STB is properly configured, there should be no reason to use the picture size - it should automatically stretch the SD channels (sent via 480i) and leave the 720P/1080i as "full" or whatever it's called.
You need to properly set up the PVR as discussed below: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=17719 I'd recommend leaving any 4:3 programming on the HD channels as 4:3, otherwise you may forget to "unstretch" and you'll miss 33% of the programming on a true HD channel. Let me know if I'm misreading your intent. PS. You could also use the # button on the remote to stretch, but it's not the best PQ when the PVR does it.

I have the PVR box working great when it comes to picture size and HD / 4:3 stations. I meant changing picture size when playing 4:3 DVD's or DIVX files from my DVD player. Sorry I didn't add that in there in my previous post.

Question for the Rogers remote
How does one DISABLE the remotes volume control? The remote they gave me with new HD box does not change volume for the HD box. Even if I press CBL the press a volume key, the TV then CBL light flash once each and the remote wont change either volume I can use the TV remote to change TV volume but its dumb I cant change volume for the actual HD box |

If you take the time to read the operating manual for the remote, you can have the volume buttons control any device that's programmed into the remote (say a TV or AVR code). This is called the "global volume lock".
The steps are to input the appropriate codes for the various devices you want to control using the remote and then to set the global lock to whatever device you want the volume to control. The device can be the cable STB, but obviously no code needs to be entered for that. As indicated in the following post, it's usually best to have the device (TV or AVR) control the volume, but by setting the global volume to that device, you only need the one (Rogers) remote, see: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=60107 Global Volume http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=17719 SA Tips

But the 3 previous boxes I had from Rogers (old one, SD, and HDTV) never did this
Even though the second box is identical to the previous HD box the volume on the HDTV box doesnt work at all (it flashes lights but no volume change, on tv or on HDTV box) |

Go into the settings menu (press settings twice). Go to Audio: Volume CTL, select variable, not fixed. The STB volume should then change, however, that's not the recommended route as I mentioned earlier.

I switch the TV off leaving the cable box on. When I come back to switch the TV on the cable box goes off. How to prevent this?

1) -manually, ensure that the TV & the box are either
both ON or both OFF 2)-press the power button on the remote and aim it appropriately to cover both the TV & the box
