I would have to agree...the skipping seems to have become less and less common.

I've been able to watch 2 movies recorded from the M-HD movie channel ("Prime" and "10th and Wolf"), beginning to end, stutter-free. Neither one was in 5.1 sound. But as soon as I try any network HD program (CSI, Amer. Idol, Grey's Anat., ... all in 5.1 sound), I see freezing constantly - at least once every 2 minutes and sometimes more often.
So, for me, the stutter is not on all HD playback, it depends on the program. I don't know if it has anything to do with whether or not the show has 5.1 sound yet or simply what channel it's on. I'm going to try a few 5.1 M-HD movies and see what I get. I also have both HDMI and component video connections in place (with optical audio to AVR for 5.1), which never caused me an issue before, but I'll try disconnecting the HDMI to see if it makes any difference. It's no consolation to me that I can watch some content stutter-free. V149 has 100% introduced a stutter/freeze issue which makes watching many prime-time HD recordings nearly intolerable. I can watch these shows stutter-free only if I watch them "live" ... but, hey, maybe I'll see some really good commercials, huh? |

I've had an increase in skipping since V149.
So far I've only been watching shows that I recorded before the V149 update... I had recorded 24 for the past 4-5 episodes and watched them all over the past 2 days and it skips ALOT more. It is very quick skips, not like the issues we had last year.... but sometimes I'll get 3-4 of them in the span of 30 seconds...then it's fine for 5-10 min..then occasional skips again. I'll wait till I start watching shows recorded after v149 to give the final verdict I'll check what Drive I have tonight |

Automatic powerdown/standby no longer works. The setting is still there and set correctly, but the unit never shuts down.

I said this before and I will say it again, the QA on the firmware releases seems rather poor. Not enough regression testing...

My drive shows up as 0x6032. I wonder what drive that would be? I'm not opening my unit to find out, but I also have a 9200 with the external card.

Here's a fun one. Recorded the hockey game last night and i couldn't get the last 28 minutes to play. It kept jumping to the end of the recording. I tried rewinding from the end which usually works but it kept jumping to the 28 minute left mark.
I'm happy with some of the fixes but not letting me watch the end of my recording is just unacceptable. |

I like the some of the new "features" implimented in v149. The PIP change is well done. Weather Network 505 will go into interactive mode now. Quite a lag before it starts and it seems to shut down if you put 505 in a PIP window. But I wish they spent the time fixing the bugs that some user are experiencing. Still getting freezing, audio dropouts, sporadic pixelation. Mostly all in HD, I think. I try to watch all feeds where possible in HD, no point in having it you don't, right? So I can't say if these things are occuring in SD too.
There no pattern to the problems and they are very sporadic. Still annoying enough to get my $20 rental credited every month though. One problem where the volume level would lower and then return in HD seems to have been fixed? Unit does not seem to power down anymore. Leds's on the front stay on all the time now. Screensaver starts though? |

I noticed that when the Weather Network goes into interactive mode the window with the main feed (top right) is shifted to the left so you get a black bar on the right hand side of the window and the cross-country weather on the left hand side of the window is cut off. The local weather on the left hand side and bottom are OK.
Is anyone else seeing this? |

Here's a new one that I've only started seeing with this new firmware. When I pause live TV, the clock that shows you how far behind live you are is only updating every 3 seconds. So it will show for example 1:43, then 1:46, 1:49, etc. Previously it used to update with every second.
Anyone else confirm this? (I don't think it's been mentioned in this thread yet.) |

Ever since this firmware update applied to my machine the fans run at 100% speed all the time (even when it's in "standby/off" mode).
It also freezes up quite a bit, and can take 3-5 seconds to display the guide. I wonder if it's just coincidence that these problems cropped up when this firmware came out, or if my machine is about to **** the bed... but it's quite frustrating! |
