Here is what I ordered last night. They had it on the web site :
Order date: 02 Mar 2007, 01:48:51 Item name Quantity Price Acer Aspire AMD Athlon Computer and 17 inch LCD Monitor package 1 $29.98 Acer Aspire AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz Computer (AST180-380) Acer 17" LCD Monitor (AL1706AB) Now they won't honor it. They say it wasn't in stock for pickup at the store but it showed in stock when I ordered it. I think I am owed a computer and monitor for $29.98 including Windows Vista Premium, don't you?? Rather than: The item(s) you ordered on Order 476xxxxx are not available for pickup at the xxxxxxxx store. You can re-order your item(s) at futureshop.ca - choose another store for pickup or have the item(s) shipped to you. Details are listed below. Order 476xxxxx Contains Order Date: 02 Mar 2007, Item(s) Cancelled: Acer Aspire AMD Athlon Computer and 17 inch LCD Monitor package Acer Aspire AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz Computer (AST180-380) Acer 17" LCD Monitor (AL1706AB Additional comment added: It doesn't matter what policy is. The law matters. I understand they must sell one item at each location by law. A couple of years ago I got a $149 work bench from Zellers for $25 because of a misprinted photo and this was 4 days into the sale, all because no one else had noticed. As soon as the transaction was done their correction was posted in the store. Last edited by dennism3; 2007-03-02 at 02:50 PM. |

It was obviously a mistake. I wouldn't push it. No sense making a fool out of yourself infront of the staff and customers. A "good deal" would have been 500 bucks, not 30. Just drop it.

Apart from anything else, Future Shop owns the package; you were making an offer to buy, which they ultimately declined.

I of course, will drop it but the statement that this was obviously a mistake is not always true. I have "purchased" PC tool kits for $0, $6.99 wireless router after discount, etc. Don't always assume something is in error. Anyway I will, of course, drop it.
What kind of got me recently when I was in the store I overheard a conversation with a "customer" who was on asistance, had a cab waiting for him, so very little time to doddle, and wanted to return a $1000+ audio system because his dad needed the money and he owed his dad a favour. They "obviously" don't need to deal with me arguing when they need to deal with that! PS: I do think they need to be taught a lesson somehow, regarding their accuracy on the website. There are all sorts of inaccuracies regarding equipment and 1080P versus actually 720P and also regarding types and numbers of inputs and outputs. I am losing confidence in what I buy from the site and whether it really has the features they mention. Wind up searching elsewhere for info. This might have been a way to teach them they should pay people to take their time and ensure accuracy. Last edited by dennism3; 2007-03-03 at 05:02 PM. |

I have been screwed by FS when they refused to honour prices that obviously were not errors. They advertise things that are not in stock all the time and refuse to ship a reasonable substitute if the order cannot be filled. That is illegal but just try and get something done about it.
