Default Sony KDFE55A20 - Best Buy No Lemon Policy

I purchased a Sony KDFE55A20 approx 1 year ago and have it break down on me four times in the year. Thankfully, I purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy. Part of Best Buy's warranty is a "no lemon" policy. If the TV breaks more than 3 times they will replace it. I have made the calls to Best Buy and they have sent it to their claims department for review. They are supposed to call me by weeks end. I am hoping to get a new TV out of this because four breakdowns in one year is unacceptable to me.
Anyone else have any experiences with this Best Buy policy???? Any tips??
Do they essentially give me a credit for a TV for what I paid at the time or what the TV is selling for today? (I don't even think they sell this model anymore!!)

I believe they are supposed to give you a TV which is comparable or better that what you have.

They will probably try to give you a 56 inches from Toshiba which has pretty much the same size. The price of this TV is around 1800$ so if you dont want this TV, they will credit you 1800$ and you can choose what you want. This is what happen with my receiver. I had the pioneer at 399$ and they wanted to exchange it for a Sony (399$) but did not liked this receiver so I had to pay an extra 200$ to get my yamaha even if the specs are very similar to the pioneer. GOOD luck !

So, here is an update. Best Buy has approved an exchange under their no lemon policy and I am to go in to the store to receive an offer for replacement. I was told there is no guarantee that I will get the same brand (Sony), but a TV with similar specs.
I don't know how happy I am with this. I have a feeling this may turn out to be a frustrating experience.
Am I wrong in thinking that I should get a Sony if I paid for a Sony???
Also, what about the matching stand. I spent $500 on the matching stand for my TV, which becomes useless without the same TV.....

dinkeye, to refresh your memory regarding the fine print of Best Buy's service plan, give this a look;
  • on their site, click on any projection tv, click on the 'PROTECT IT' logo
  • click on '2 year' service plan and watch for the 'Continue' button to light up, click on it to go to 'Terms and Conditions'
  • in the 'No Lemon Guarantee' you'll see mentioned 'Conditions' and 'Replacement Products" - your anwers are here
Can I suggest that you research your possible replacement televisions before meeting with them to settle the claim? Just like when buying, you want to know your products as well or better than the Best Buy folks.
This doesn't have to be a frustrating experience. Be prepared, be firm when explaining your expectations and be polite. They get plenty of rude folks that leave frustrated. No need to be one of them, dinkeye.
Good luck with the negotiations.

Update:

I was in Best Buy last night and they are giving me a $3500 credit for my TV towards any TV I want.
They offered an exchange for the Sony KDS60A2000, which I was going to accept but they were out of stock on this TV.
They then offered me the KDSR60XBR2 for an additional $400. It is a really nice looking set. What do you guys think??? It is listed at $4999, which is not what anyone would pay.

Update:

So, all is taken care of. I ended up getting the 60" Sony KDSR60XBR2!!

It is a really impressive TV and Best Buy was really great about the whole thing. They were going to replace my 55" with the Sony 60" KDS60A2000, but they were out of stock. So, the guy at BB told me they had to give me the next model up which was the XBR2. I couldn't be happier with my new TV and the service I received from BB, especially after all the horror stories I read about them online. I am very glad I got the extended warranty from them on my old TV and got it on my new one too!
I now have a bigger TV with 1080P that is listed at $4999 right now and I only paid $2999 for my old TV at the time. I have a huge smile on my face from all of this!
